Swimming With Dolphins - Relax And Drift Into Sleep
Swimming with Dolphins is a track Viv has written and designed for little ones to help them drift off to sleep dreaming of maritime adventures. Who wouldn't love to swim with dolphins? The lovely backing track is from the 'Music of Wisdom' company, and the sounds of the ocean help to relax the mind for a good night's sleep.

It's time to snuggle down now.
Time to cuddle that favorite teddy,
Bunny,
Dog,
Dinosaur,
Whatever your nighttime snuggly toy is.
Now it's time to reach out and bring that toy close.
Give it a lovely cuddle,
Close your eyes and begin squeezing it tightly because this is your time.
Time to enjoy as you breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Each time you breathe in,
You catch that familiar smell of your toy,
That comforting smell of your favorite bedtime toy.
And every time you breathe out,
You can allow yourself to relax a little more,
Feeling calm,
Relaxed and happy.
Just keep holding your cuddly toy nice and close,
Breathing deeply,
Squeezing your bedtime toy tight and keep squeezing,
Keep squeezing and hugging tight,
Squeezing and hugging tight until you naturally feel that you want to let your arms relax.
As you do so,
Just let your arms relax,
Still cuddling your toy,
But just gently now,
Feeling calm,
Relaxed,
Calm and relaxed.
And as you really begin to relax now,
To slow things down before gently drifting off into sleep because it's time to relax now.
Time to go to bed.
Time to allow all the worries,
Stresses,
Problems of the day to be forgotten because this is your time.
Time for you to feel relaxed,
Calm and safe.
And it's a lovely feeling,
Allowing yourself to give in to sleep,
To allow the body and the mind to quieten down,
To stop thinking about anything that's happened in the past or anything that might happen in the future.
Because we both know it's a bit of a waste of our energy.
All we need to do now is enjoy our time,
This safe time,
This relaxed time.
So I want you to start this lovely process of letting go by imagining a wave of relaxation travelling through your body,
Starting at the very top of your head and travelling right the way down to the very soles of your feet.
Imagine the wave being a colour,
Any colour,
The first colour that comes to your mind,
A colour that makes you feel calm and relaxed.
And imagine this colourful wave like the water on a beach washing any worries or anxious feelings from you.
So imagine this wave starting at the top of your head and washing down through your face,
Your eyes,
Your nose,
Your mouth.
As it moves down now through your neck and across your shoulders,
Down through your arms,
Through your elbows,
Into your forearms,
Down through your wrists,
Into your hands and right to the very way,
To the very tips of your fingers and tips of your thumbs.
That relaxing wave now moving into the chest,
Your breathing becoming steadier and slower.
Each breath that you breathe,
You feel more relaxed,
Breathing out any worries or tight feelings because this is your time,
It's time to relax and to let go.
As that wave of colour travels on down into the tummy,
The tightness in the tummy muscles let go,
Making you feel even more relaxed.
And think down into your back now,
That colour cascading down your spine,
Making you feel even calmer,
Even more relaxed.
As you think down into your waist,
Down into your hips,
You're so relaxed now.
It's moving down into your thighs,
That wave of relaxation,
That beautiful colour moving through your knees,
Your shins,
Your calves,
Into your ankles and then right the way down through your feet to the very tips of your toes so that every part of your body now just feels so beautifully relaxed and calm.
And as you're feeling so beautifully relaxed,
I want you to imagine that you're overlooking the most beautiful beach and between you and this wonderful sandy beach are 10 wooden steps bleached by the sunlight and worn quite smooth from years of use.
And you're so looking forward to walking down towards the beach,
Towards the ocean.
Feel this wonderful sense of calm and peace.
Nothing bothers you,
Nothing disturbs that peace.
And you just know that as you walk down those steps,
Those 10 steps,
Each step down is going to make you feel more and more relaxed.
So as I count you down in a moment from 10 to 0,
I want you to imagine yourself slowly walking down those steps into deeper and deeper relaxation so that by the time you get down to zero,
When your feet find themselves on the sand,
You can feel beautifully relaxed and calm.
So let's start now with 10,
8,
7,
6,
5,
You're halfway down now as you move down to 4,
And 3,
2,
Feeling really relaxed,
1,
Almost all the way down now to 0.
And as you find yourself now on the sand,
You walk along the beach feeling really excited,
The warm sand beneath your feet and you can hear the sound of the ocean,
The waves lapping in and the calls of the seabirds from far off.
You feel so relaxed,
At peace to be somewhere that you love,
Where you can feel that wonderful sense of freedom,
A calmness and a comfort at a really deep level.
You feel excited yet calm.
And you walk down towards the water's edge and the calm waves lap against the shoreline and the first time your toes get wet,
You jump back a little with the initial shock but you quickly try again and it doesn't seem so cold the second time,
You enjoy the cool feeling on your feet,
In fact the ocean is quite warm really.
The water is so clear and you walk along the shoreline,
Gentle waves bringing the water up around your ankles and you feel really calm and notice in the distance,
Out in the bay,
You can see some sailing boats with lovely white sails lazily bobbing about.
You can't quite make out if they're moving or not,
These boats,
But there's no wind and the sea is really calm and you stop for a second to try to work it out,
If the sailing boats are moving or not and you think they are so you keep walking anyway,
Enjoying the water on your feet and the wet sand moving underfoot and as you look down at your feet you see dozens and dozens of little shells and pebbles all glinting in the water and you crouch down,
Reaching your hand into the water to scoop up some and you wash the sand off in the gentle waves and then you stand up to inspect your find.
The pebbles and shells are so perfect,
Pinks,
Yellows,
Blues,
So beautiful,
Small and beautiful and some of the shells have little stripes on them and others are white with pink insides.
They all glimmer and glint in the sunlight.
What a special place this is,
A special place that seems to be here just for you.
The blue sky above with little wispy clouds,
The sun shining in all its glory.
Everything looks beautiful and you look back at the stones and shells that you've collected and you pop them in your pocket.
These are for you.
These beautiful little gems you've found,
You chose them,
They're just for you.
You keep wandering slowly down the beach,
Kicking at the waves with your feet,
Feeling so relaxed,
So happy.
Life is easy here,
It just fills you with this wonderful confidence,
The confidence of knowing that you're really strong,
Resilient and able to do anything you set your mind to.
You gaze out across the water and you notice that one of those boats seems to be coming a little bit closer to the shore now.
The tops of the waves are glinting in the light,
Which seems to dance off the water in the most beautiful way,
Like billions and billions of diamonds.
As the boat drifts closer and closer,
You notice it doesn't seem to have anybody on board.
It seems to be just a boat on its own,
Floating towards you.
It gently comes up as the waves lap against the shore.
It's almost like it's being pushed towards you gently.
So you walk slowly towards the empty boat and see inside there's a heavy stone holding down a piece of paper.
You jump into the boat,
Intrigued and you pick up and read the note.
It says,
Come aboard and meet some creatures of the sea.
You sit down in the boat and you notice a rope tightens at the front as though you're being pulled along by something.
You begin to be towed out into the bay.
Before you know it,
A pod of dolphins come alongside the boat,
As if guiding you along.
They jump from the water in a playful manner and you have a beaming smile on your face,
Watching them all having fun and them watching you.
They seem so pleased that you're there and you suddenly notice a few baby dolphins swimming along.
The boat slows and the baby dolphins come closer.
You lean over the edge of the boat to get a closer look and the babies come so close and bob their heads out of the water to take a closer look at you.
Their parents reassure them that they are safe and you outstretch your hand towards them and they nudge your hand and allow you to stroke their smooth skin.
You are thrilled and they seem to be so too.
They start darting about this way and that in a playful manner,
Chasing each other and then look back at you.
You feel as though they're asking you to join them,
Join them in having some fun.
You feel excited.
Should you?
I don't know,
You think to yourself.
You sit on the side of the boat and dangle your feet in the ocean and two larger dolphins come on either side of you and gently nod their heads.
You lower yourself in and hold on to their fins and they start to swim.
You hold on tight and you're being pulled along in the water.
You feel so safe and secure with these two big dolphins either side of you.
It's like they're looking after you,
Taking care of you and their babies in front keep jumping clear out of the water in pure delight.
You have the most wonderful time diving under the water and swimming with this wonderful family.
You feel part of their family and they are always close,
Allowing you to rest on them if you ever tire.
The older members of the pod have such wisdom in their eyes and you somehow know that they know you and understand you.
And this feeling of wonderful connection feeds your soul.
You feel loved,
Understood,
Peaceful as though nothing else matters.
You feel all your worries drop from you like a stone in the ocean.
You realize that all the things you worry about are mostly not really important.
What is important is being in the moment,
Present and doing things that ignites wonder,
Love,
Peace,
Calm and happiness within you.
Before you know it,
The sun is setting in the bay and the dolphins take you back to the boat.
You jump in and they all gather around the boat as though saying goodbye.
You feel sad to say goodbye but you are filled with the most magical feeling of love and happiness that it doesn't seem to matter.
And one of the elders of the pod takes the rope in its mouth and begins to swim towards the shore.
The rest of the pod follow,
The baby still the closest to the boat.
As the boat approaches the beach,
The pod stops.
They all look at you with their loving eyes as you wave goodbye.
They give a final push with their noses at the back of the boat and the boat drifts towards the beach as you watch them turn away and disappear into the bay.
You feel so blessed.
You get out of the boat and drag it up onto the beach and turn to look out into the bay to see if you can see that beautiful family of dolphins.
You think you see some splashing which warms your heart.
And so it's now time for you to go,
To go and drift off into sleep,
Dreaming of those dolphins,
Knowing that you can be in the moment without any cares in the world.
And when you wake up in the morning,
You can think of those dolphins and be as calm and playful as they are.
Good night.
Sleep tight.
