Today we begin by rooting into the body before inviting an upward energy of spring.
Stand in mountain pose,
Feet grounded,
Spine long.
Allow your arms to rest by your sides and take a moment just to notice your breath.
As you inhale slowly sweep the arms wide and up towards the sky.
As you exhale bring them into cactus arm.
So bend at the elbows 90 degrees,
Palms face forward,
Lift the chest and if you like lift the chin,
Maybe a gentle backbend.
Move slowly with the rhythm of your breath for a few rounds.
So inhaling reaching the arms up,
Exhaling bringing the arms into cactus or goalpost arms.
Continue to move with your breath.
In nature spring growth begins with strong roots beneath the soil.
In the same way we begin by grounding,
Feeling secure and stable before we expand and get out there into the world.
Let the movement feel smooth and unforced,
Noticing how the body begins to wake up gently.
Stay with this simple movement for as many breaths as you like,
Allowing the breath and body to find a steady rhythm.
Enjoy the rest of your day and I'll see you tomorrow.
