Part 1.

The problem with passive scanning.

Friends,

There is a meditation called scanning different parts of the body.

Usually a person lies down,

Close their eyes or something comfortable,

Not too soft,

Not too hard.

Relaxing music is turning on.

Often an instruction says,

Feel your right hand.

You lie there,

Looking with your inner gaze on your right hand.

A minute later they say,

Look at your left hand and you direct your inner gaze there.

Not it is friendly,

It is do it for 30 minutes.

You lie there for half an hour,

Holding your attention on the areas they point out.

There is a music to relax you.

You have to be serious,

But there is no room for relaxation there.

The music relaxes you.

You drift away and you can't actually do anything.

You direct your attention,

But there are not real sensations,

Because you are just lying there.

Part 2.

The trap of concentration.

Usually this should not be done for no more than 10-12 minutes.

After that the mind gets tired.

It does not matter what you experience.

If the meditation is incredibly boring,

Dull and very hard to perform at any level,

I'll explain why.

When people are not trained,

They don't have a distance between the observer and the object.

If you don't have that distance,

It is very difficult.

You look at your hand,

But you don't realize what realizing actually it is.

The process of realizing is very simple,

Yet very hard to perform.

To feel something in the hand,

People start to concentrate to that area.

Concentration causes more electric current to flow there.

The hand becomes more tense.

Blood circulation and lymph flow increase.

The hand swells and reads slightly.

You won't see it from the outside,

But you will feel a surge,

Like it is heavy or full.

This is not passive observation.

This is concentration.

This is a trap.

Either you fall asleep or you just tense up the organ and think you are realizing this is why beginners and even advanced practitioners should do this,

Should not do this.

There are more effective techniques.

Part 3.

Active scanning the method.

Let's take the same exercise,

But with a key difference.

When you are told to direct your attention to an organ,

Right hand,

Left biceps,

Knee,

Hip,

Calf,

Foot,

You must move it a little bit.

You slowly flex and extend it,

Squeeze and release,

But do it very slowly.

Flex to 10 seconds,

Extend it for 10 seconds,

Squeeze your hand into a fist,

Then release and straighten your fingers for 10 seconds.

If we do this,

We will definitely start to feel the tissues,

You will feel the fingers,

The faster moving the muscles,

The bones rubbing.

You will hear and absorb this,

The mind will not be blurred.

Part 4.

Why it works?

When you just absorb a still body,

The mind does not understand what to look at.

Only after many years of practice,

When your tissues wakes up,

You will feel it while still,

But even then it is not easy.

Part 5.

Concentration.

But when we start moving,

Tiny micro-movements,

2-3 cm,

These movements help you see the tension and the simulation of the muscle in the area the instructor mentions.

In awareness,

This is called active observation or active body scanning.

Part 5.

Concentration.

Even if you do this for 30 minutes,

You will not get exhausted like a terminator.

If you move while scanning,

You will achieve realization,

Maybe not immediately,

In 99% of cases,

Whether if you do passive observation or what I am telling you now,

You might feel like you are not boring doing something useless,

But when you reach the first or second stage,

You will understand that this is exactly what you needed.

At least with active scanning,

You will have real sensation,

You will not have to strain or struggle,

You will see what can be released in observation.
