This meditation invites you to expand within yourself.
To stretch your awareness in your mind,
Your body and your imagination.
Just like a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis,
Stretching into its brand new wings,
We too go through periods of transformation,
Stretching and expanding into ourselves.
Take a moment to find a comfortable position,
Grounding yourself in your body and having a lovely big stretch.
Stretch into your body,
All the way to the ends of your fingertips and beyond.
Stretching down into your legs beyond your toes.
And reaching up to the sky,
Expanding beyond your head.
Stretching into the fullness of your body in this moment.
I now invite you to take a deep inhale expanding into your lungs and a slow and gentle exhale as you release.
If you wish to close your eyes,
You are very welcome to do so.
As we arrive into a place of stillness within yourself.
I now invite you to see if you can rest your awareness just behind your eyes in the centre of your head.
Don't worry if your attention is pulled in different directions.
We can just gently keep coming back to this anchor in the centre of our head as many times as we need to.
And resting our awareness here for a moment.
Just become aware and curious.
Of how this feels to rest our awareness in the centre of your hand.
Now let's see if we can stretch our awareness a little bit.
So keeping the anchor in the centre of your head,
Just seeing if you can stretch your awareness to your left ear.
Notice any sensations here.
And then gently slide your awareness back to the centre of your head.
And perhaps instinctively now stretching your awareness from the centre of your head to your right ear and pausing there for a moment.
When you're ready sliding back your awareness to the center of your head.
Now just like a newly emerged butterfly stretching through its newly formed wings,
Let's take this a little further.
Through stretching our awareness from the center of our head all the way down our left arm to our left fingertips.
And when you're ready.
.
.
Unwinding and sliding back all the way up your left arm to the centre of your head.
And then instinctively creating balance within yourself.
Stretching that awareness from the center of your head all the way down your right arm to your right fingertips.
Stretching through that wing on the right hand side of your body.
And when you're ready sliding back that awareness all the way back up your right side to the centre of your head.
I'm now going to invite you to stretch your awareness to your imagination.
So from the center of your head.
Stretching your awareness and expanding above your head,
Beyond your body.
To imagine a beautiful garden.
This can be a garden that you create in your own mind.
In your imagination.
But perhaps this is a springtime,
Summer garden.
Alive with colour and beauty.
An abundance of flowers and blooms emerging.
Imagine feeling the warmth of the sunlight on your body.
And just like a newly emerged butterfly from its chrysalis who basks in the sunlight to warm its wings,
Imagine that you too are expanding through your body feeling the warmth of the sunlight at your heart center.
As you gaze around at your garden at the luscious green foliage and pastel coloured petals.
You notice the most beautiful blue butterfly fluttering between the flowers.
A butterfly is not taught how to fly.
They are born with an instinctive wisdom and trust in their own strength to fly.
A butterfly also cannot see their own wings.
They are not aware of their own beauty,
But the rest of the world can see how beautiful they are.
You notice as the butterfly flutters towards you and hovers just above your head.
It seems to be inviting you to go on a journey with them.
To learn from their own wisdom.
And if you wish,
You can choose to follow your butterfly.
Exploring your garden from the butterfly's perspective.
From this place of inner knowing,
Inner trust in your own strength to fly.
To believe in your own beauty.
And the difference that you make to the world around you.
Expanding into your own wings.
And now if you're ready.
.
.
Inviting the visualization of your beautiful garden and the butterfly to softly fade into the distance.
As you begin to slide your awareness back towards the center of your head.
Taking a deep inhale expanding through your lungs once more and a slow and gentle exhale as you release.
Introducing a little movement to your body and stretching through those wings again.
Stretching both arms all the way beyond your fingertips.
And I wonder,
If you had the same trust in yourself and belief in your own wings just like your beautiful butterfly,
Where would your wings carry you today?
And if you have had your eyes closed,
Gently beginning to blink open your eyes,
Becoming aware of the space that you are in.
Ready to fly by your own wings.
I wish you a beautiful rest of the day ahead.
Namaste
