Meditation Going Deeply Within Gently close your eyes as you begin to breathe deeply and as you allow yourself to gently relax.
Take another deep breath.
That's it.
Gently relax as you begin to allow yourself free access to your imagination as we move together through this healing journey.
Allow yourself to imagine that you are walking down a path on a sunny day.
The breeze is blowing gently through your hair.
You can hear the birds chirping.
You can feel the crunch of the gravel under your feet.
You notice up ahead of you an ancient door in the hillside that attracts your attention.
With a big creak,
You open the door and walk inside.
Just inside the door is a lantern.
You light the lantern to better see your way down the stairs.
You begin walking down those stairs and go deep into the bowels of the mountain.
You know there is something very important that is waiting for you at the bottom.
A lesson,
Or a message,
Or a healing of some kind.
You're not quite sure what it is,
But you know you are being drawn very gently down the stairs.
Finally,
You reach the bottom of the stairs.
Still breathing deeply and feeling very relaxed,
You find another door at the bottom of the stairs.
You open the latch and walk through the doorway.
You enter a large room that is well lit and feels very safe and comforting to you.
You look around the room and notice some interesting objects.
There is a glowing fire in the fireplace.
This feels like a very holy,
A very sacred place.
You hadn't noticed before,
But now you see that there is someone sitting in the large chair facing the fireplace.
They slowly swivel the chair around to face you.
A very wise and loving being,
Who knows you well,
Is sitting there.
They have a big welcoming smile on their face.
You trust them totally.
You also sit down,
In a chair close to where your friend is.
They look at you warmly and hold both of your hands in theirs.
They say your name and then gently let you know that it is almost time for you to go on an even deeper journey within yourself.
They will be with you on this journey.
You have some anticipation,
Perhaps a little bit of anxiety,
About what this deeper journey might entail.
Your loving friend points towards the far side of the room.
You hadn't noticed it before,
But now you see that there is a hole in the ground,
Surrounded by a circle of lit candles and a harness for two,
That looks like a swing hanging from a rope.
The hole looks something like a well,
With a crank attached to the sling for two.
Your friend speaks.
When you are ready,
They say very gently,
We will go down into the well together.
At the bottom of the well is a treasure for you.
You take another deep breath,
Entrusting your loving friend totally,
You say,
I am ready.
The wise and loving being takes your hand and you both sit in the double sling.
You buckle up for safety into the harness attached to it.
Your friend speaks some magic words and slowly the two of you are gently lowered into the hole.
You go,
Down,
Down,
You go,
Very gently,
Very slowly.
You begin to realize that the purpose of this journey is to gently embrace a part of yourself that has caused you some difficulty in the past,
A part of yourself that has created some kind of problem for you in the past,
A part of yourself that you have struggled with on a number of occasions.
Very gently now,
You go deeper and deeper into the hole in the ground.
You are glad that your trusted friend is with you.
Finally,
After what seems a long time,
You reach the bottom of the well.
It is dry,
There is no water,
But you realize that you do not know how to get out of this hole and that you are totally dependent on your wise and loving friend.
Both of you unbuckle the harness and step onto the soft ground.
It feels good to be on solid ground again.
Your friend looks into your eyes.
You are amazed that you can see anything down here,
But there is a soft and glowing light coming from you know not where.
You notice that it does feel just a bit chilly down there and that you silently hope for some warmth.
The two of you sit on the ground.
Your friend points to a pile of sticks lying close by.
They say to you,
I want you to take the sticks and spell out the word that symbolizes for you what you have been afraid of all these years.
The thing that stops you from being holy yourself.
The thing that has made it hard for you to have all of the joy that you seek.
The thing that has made it hard for you to clearly hear when your inner guidance speaks to you.
You pick up the sticks and know immediately what the word is.
The word might be cancer,
Or bankruptcy,
Or fear,
Or death,
Or divorce,
Or any of a number of other words.
You look to your friend for comfort and they gently encourage you to spell out the word that you know you have been avoiding wanting to say out loud for a long time.
Gently,
You spell the word and then your friend encourages you to say it out loud in your mind.
You don't want to say it,
But very gently in your imagination you do.
And then again.
And then a second and a third time.
And a fourth time.
Each time saying it a little louder.
Finally,
You shout the word in your imagination and it feels good to get it out of you.
To really see the word in the sand there,
Spelled out with the sticks.
Your friend gives you a big hug and then hands you some matches.
They point to a little pile of dry paper off to one side and motions for you to take the sticks that spell the word you have been speaking and pile up the sticks in such a way that you can make a small fire from them.
You do and you light the fire with the matches.
You lean back into the warm embrace of your loving friend as you look at the sticks burning.
You feel good.
You have looked at your fear and you are now being warmed by the fire from the sticks that spelled out your fear.
You feel lighter,
More buoyant,
More energized.
You know that you have accomplished something important here,
Even if it may take a few days or weeks to know just exactly what it was you have learned and how embracing your fear will now begin to help you face the challenges in your life in a new way.
As the fire burns down and the embers glow and you feel warm and satisfied,
You know that it is time for you to go.
Your friend gives you a choice.
You can come back out of the hole in the ground in one of three ways.
You can climb up the extension ladder that is leaning against one side of the well.
You can ride back up with your friend in the sling,
The same way you came down.
Or you can have two angels who have just appeared and are waiting nearby,
Very gently levitate you back to the top.
You make your choice and within minutes you are back in the room with the fireplace,
With a warm glow in your heart,
Feeling that something very important has just taken place.
Back in the room you thank your guides and you thank your special friend.
It is time to climb back up the stairs and back into this time and place.
You feel much lighter,
More at ease,
More loving as you return.
You are able to climb the stairs much more quickly than you thought possible.
Within a very short period of time you find yourself back at the top,
Replacing the lantern you'd taken down the stairs,
And then you close the hillside door behind you.
You feel invigorated,
Energized,
Peaceful and serene.
You feel ready to face any new challenges in your life with a new optimism.
When you are ready,
Slowly open your eyes,
Feeling relaxed and peaceful.
