I know that the holidays can be stressful for me and for others. I thought this might be a good time of year to create an EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques or Tapping) track with calming meditative music in the background to help folks release some of that tension and stress. By acknowledging our sensations and our true feelings, we can heal from the expectations we place on ourselves as well as the standards others place on us as well.

Tapping script.

Releasing holiday stress.

Let's begin by taking a deep breath.

Place one or two hands on your heart.

Let's begin by tuning in.

Notice where you feel the holiday stress in your body.

Maybe your shoulders or your chest.

Maybe your stomach.

Give it a number from zero to ten for intensity.

Now let's begin tapping on what's called the karate chop point,

Which is on the side of your hand.

As we tap on the karate chop point,

Say these words.

We call them setup statements.

If any of these words don't resonate while we are tapping,

Feel free to change them to something that feels right for you.

Even though I feel this holiday stress and it feels like too much sometimes,

I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

Even though part of me feels pressure to make everything perfect,

I honor how I feel and allow myself to breathe.

Even though I feel overwhelmed by all the things I should do,

I choose to find moments of peace right now.

Round one.

Releasing the stress.

Let's start by tapping on the eyebrow.

This holiday stress feels heavy.

Side of the eye.

So many expectations from others,

From myself.

Under the eye.

I'm trying to do it all.

Tapping under the nose.

There's so much to manage and not enough time.

Chin.

I feel tense and maybe even resentful.

Collarbone.

All this pressure to be cheerful and grateful when honestly I'm exhausted.

And now tapping on the top of the head.

And that's okay.

I'm human.

Let's take a deep breath in and exhale slowly.

Round two.

Acknowledging the pressure.

Let's start again with the eyebrow.

This time of year can be so full.

Side of the eye.

There are gifts,

Gatherings,

Travel,

Emotions.

Under the eye.

Sometimes old family patterns too.

Under the nose.

It stirs up so much inside me.

Chin.

And I'm doing my best to keep it together.

Maybe I don't need to do it all perfectly.

Maybe I can let some things be simple.

Top of the head.

It's safe to release the need to control everything.

Let's take another deep breath right here.

Round three.

Releasing the burden.

Eyebrow.

Letting go of the tension in my shoulders.

Side of the eye.

Letting go of the pressure to please everyone.

Under the eye.

Releasing the need to make this season perfect.

Under the nose.

I can give peace over perfection.

Collarbone.

I can let my heart lead instead of my to-do list.

Under the arm.

It's okay to say no.

Top of the head.

It's okay to take care of me.

Pause and take a slow full breath.

Round four.

Opening to calm and joy.

Eyebrow point.

I'm allowing calm to return to my body.

Side of the eye.

I can feel the warmth of gratitude.

Maybe the holidays are about connection not perfection.

Under the nose.

About presence not pressure.

Chin.

I can slow down and notice the small joys.

The lights.

The laughter.

The quiet moments.

I can choose to feel peaceful right now.

Top of the head.

I'm safe supported and enough just as I am.

Closing round anchoring peace.

Eyebrow.

Releasing what I don't need to carry.

Side of the eye.

Welcoming peace into my mind and body.

Under the eye.

Feeling grounded in this moment.

Under the nose.

Allowing myself to breathe freely.

Choosing calm and compassion.

Collarbone.

Letting this peace ripple through my holidays.

I am enough.

I do enough.

I have enough.

Top of the head.

And I choose to move forward with ease and joy.

Take another deep breath.

In through the nose.

Out through the mouth.

Notice how your body feels now.

Rerate your stress level from zero to ten.

And acknowledge any shift.
