Welcome to this new day,
A day full of endless possibilities.
But what I'd like you to think about today is your reaction to circumstances.
Can you take seven seconds today to pause before you react to a situation?
It could be something really simple as someone pulling out in front of you with their car.
Our immediate reaction is often to be annoyed,
Even angry.
But can you just take seven seconds,
Count those seven seconds and hopefully within that seven seconds that anger will dissipate.
It could be a child pestering you at home for something,
For attention,
For a snack or whatever it is.
But before you yell out to them,
Whatever your response might be,
Just take seven seconds and then answer whatever the request is.
If we can use these pauses in between reactions,
We will have a much calmer day,
A much calmer life.
Sometimes we just need to remove ourselves from a situation for such a brief amount of time in order to come back to that situation in a more centered,
Grounded way.
This is such an easy tool to implement,
But it does take practice.
Sometimes we have to remove ourselves completely from a situation if it's really making us angry and take seven seconds or more if required to gather our breathing back to a calmer state to try and relax our body.
And then go back to whatever it is you need to work through in your day.
So I'm not asking you to kind of walk away from something that's an issue for you,
But just to give it that seven second pause before you react.
I'd love for you to try this today.
I would love to hear how this has worked for you.
It is a practice.
But just that pause,
That seven second pause between a situation that requires a response rather than a situation where you react and then potentially regret your reaction.
This way you're coming back to the issue or the situation feeling more centered,
More grounded.
And I bet you,
You will make a much better decision and reaction to whatever it is you have to work through.
Love to hear your thoughts.
Love to hear about how your day is going.
Thanks for listening.
