Paul Izenberg

Paul is a psychotherapist based in British Columbia. He shares meditations that guide the listener toward the recognition of open-awareness. These meditations emphasize presence with the experiences of the body, breath, and consciousness as a bridge to guide the listener to the effortless nondual awareness at the core of every experience. Paul’s approach is inspired by his decades of practice in the practice lineages of Tibetan Buddhism. However, he holds that the essential knowledge of these traditions points to a universal feature of human consciousness and is experientially discoverable as the true condition of the individual, independent of religious or spiritual affiliation. Accessing this natural wisdom has been highly refined within the religious traditions originating in the Indian subcontinent, yet it is also intimated across diverse traditions worldwide, for those who know how to look within, and thus, in Paul's view, nondual awareness does not belong to one tradition but finds its home in the human condition. Recognizing open-awareness in the here-and-now does not require belief in any metaphysical or religious structure. It is fundamental to human experience. It can be recognized by anyone and integrated into daily life. Paul feels that through recognizing and integrating open-awareness, individuals can strengthen emotional balance, embodiment, deepen interpersonal connection, and cultivate a sense of meaning grounded in the mystery of being.
