This poem is titled Unwinding Our Knots.
It comes from the book Thousands of Years of Prayers,
Poems by Julie Dunlop,
A collection of poems written as letters to the River Ganga in India.
Unwinding Our Knots Dear Ganga,
The miracle of blooms,
Bright orange,
On the tops of the trees,
Fresh morning air,
Birdsong,
Dogs barking,
Horns cheerful,
Chanting from a temple,
Calls to prayer at a nearby mosque,
The sounds of you unfolding in the permutations of vibrations of sound waves unwinding our knots,
Carving the shape of us slowly,
The way a waterfall reshapes the terrain,
The way waves redesign the shore.
Your moisture inside the mouth's cave,
Within rivulets of sweat,
Streams of tears,
Everywhere we are,
You are,
Jala,
With blessings,
With nourishment,
With cleansing,
With grace.
