This poem,
Titled Murmurations,
Is found in Earth,
Water,
Fire,
Air,
Space.
A collection of poems by Julie Dunlop.
Murmurations Starlings sweep the sky Wash through in waves Thousands of beaks and feathers Collaging in patterns of pulsing shapes And who can explain the choreography of this mass dance?
The airborne calligraphy scrolling delicately Disappearing and reappearing Reinventing itself with each crescendo Each swelling of sound and sight As if to say,
This is it This swooping and sailing Every song born from their tiny lungs And the softest of murmurations This is it The breath The song The miracle The letting go
