This poem,
Titled Prayer Circles,
Comes from the book Earth,
Water,
Fire,
Air,
Space,
By Julie Demop.
Prayer Circles Wrangly of flowers,
Their petals orange,
Pink,
Red,
White,
Purple,
Blue,
Yellow,
Their designs encircling the ground,
Blessing the earth,
Resonance of the smoothness of cellular membranes,
Cytoplasm's silent chants echoing inside the internal terrain,
In sweat lodges circling around the fire,
Prayers lifting up,
Eyes smiling,
Remembering a beauty of long ago,
Leaves,
Twigs,
And pinecones placed in a circle on a forest floor,
Owl eyes observing from high branches the cosmic voices of distant planets offering their circular songs.
