Hello and welcome.
Find a comfortable position,
Maybe seated,
Maybe lying down,
And gently close your eyes.
Take a breath in and let it go.
And as you exhale,
Allow your body to soften.
And on this exhale,
Let the night go.
We begin this morning in Highland Glen.
Imagine yourself now,
Standing at the edge of it,
Just as the sun is beginning to rise.
The sky is pale,
Silver and soft gold,
And the air is cool and clean against your skin.
There's dew on the grass,
The hills rise around you,
Ancient and unhurried,
And a thin mist still rests in the low places,
Like the land itself is breathing.
You are here,
At the start of something.
A little way ahead of you,
You notice a threshold.
Perhaps it's a cleft between two great standing stones,
Worn smooth by centuries of wind and rain.
Perhaps it's an old stone archway,
Half covered in moss,
Leading you further into the glen.
Whatever form it takes,
You recognise it.
It has always been here.
This is the threshold between the night you have come from and the day you are stepping into.
Before you cross,
Take a moment to notice what you are carrying,
Not physical things,
But what you are carrying inside.
Maybe a worry that surfaced in the night,
A task that's waiting,
The unfinished thing.
Whatever it is,
Just name it,
Quietly,
To yourself.
You don't need to solve it now,
Just acknowledge it is there.
Now ask yourself,
Does this need to come with you today?
If it doesn't,
If it belongs to yesterday,
Or to a fear that isn't yet real,
You can set it down here,
At the base of the stones.
The land will hold it,
And it will be here if you need it.
But you don't have to carry it across.
Now turn your attention to what you want to bring with you.
Just one thing,
Quality,
An intention,
A feeling.
Let that word or feeling rise naturally,
And hold it gently.
This is what you are carrying across the threshold today.
When you are ready,
Begin to walk forward.
Feel the ground beneath your feet,
The soft grass,
A slight give of the earth.
The mist parts as you move through it,
The threshold on either side of you now.
And as you pass between,
You feel something subtle shift,
A quiet sense of beginning.
You are on the other side,
The glen opens before you,
The light is growing.
Somewhere above you,
A bird lifts into the sky.
This day is yours,
Not perfect,
Not certain,
But yours.
And you have already chosen how you want to meet it.
Gently begin to bring your awareness back to the room around you now.
Feel the ground beneath you.
Maybe wiggle your fingers and your toes.
Take a slow breath in,
And exhale.
Open your eyes when you are ready.
And carry your intention with you as you greet your day.
Thank you for sharing this practice.
Have a beautiful day.
