Preparing yourself for an outer body experience,

In which you use your astral body to travel around the room that you're in,

The space you occupy.

Getting yourself into a comfortable position.

You could be lying down on your back,

Or in a recline position.

It's helpful for you to be lying down in order for your astral body to easily move away from your physical body.

Gathering any props that you might want for your practice,

Blankets or pillows or bolsters.

Maybe an eye pillow to block out the light,

Or dimming your lights.

Preparing your space and your body to go into deeper states of relaxation,

While your consciousness is traveling,

Is moving,

Contained within your light body,

Your astral body.

With your eyes softly closed or lowered,

Become aware of your body and the surface that you're resting upon.

Your breath moving in and out of your body.

Notice every slow inhalation,

Every slow exhalation.

Invite in a few deep breaths in through your nose,

Breathing slowly.

Exhaling slowly out through your mouth or through your nose.

Breathing into a few more rounds on your own,

Focusing your whole mind as the breath moves in through the nose slowly,

And out slowly.

After your next exhalation,

Let your breath return back to a natural rhythm,

Observing the natural flow of breath,

Expressing itself in and out of your body,

Feeling space in your mind,

An openness of your heart,

A relaxing into your belly.

Let your intention,

My body goes to sleep,

My consciousness aware,

Awake.

Allow yourself to relax into this intention.

Now let's move into a state of relaxation,

Where your body goes to sleep.

Invite your body to get as comfortable as you'd like,

So that you don't have to move,

So that you can remain relaxed and still.

Let's bring your body into a deep state of rest,

A deep state of sleep.

Your mind completely aware as your consciousness travels around your body,

Moving your awareness to the crown of your head.

Imagine a golden flow moving down the crown of your head,

Relaxing the skin of your scalp,

The back of your skull.

From the crown of your head,

That golden light warmly moving down the sides of your head,

Relaxing your temples and your ears,

Behind your ears.

From the crown of your head now moves down the forehead,

Softening your forehead,

The eyebrows,

The eyes,

And the muscles around your eyes.

Feeling a relaxation,

A warmth moving down the cheeks,

Softening the bridge of your nose and your nostrils,

Upper lip,

The lower lip,

The tongue relaxed in the cradle of your jaw.

Lower jaw releasing down from your upper jaw,

The muscles around your jaw,

Your throat and your neck melting,

The sides of your neck,

The back of your neck.

Moving down the shoulders,

The arms,

Down into your hands,

A warmth melting the center of your palms,

Relaxing your fingers.

Any stress or tension is flowing out of the fingertips.

Shift your awareness to the tops of your shoulders,

Your collarbones,

The back of your shoulders,

The shoulder blades,

And the space between your shoulders.

Notice a warmth softening the muscles around the shoulders,

The shoulder blades,

The collarbones.

That golden warmth oozing now down towards the upper chest,

The ribcage expanding open,

Leaving more space for your heart,

Your lungs,

The middle of your back,

Releasing towards the surface underneath you.

Flow your awareness to your upper belly,

Your lower belly,

The exhalations,

Softens your belly towards your spine,

Your lower back,

The muscles around your back,

The muscles around your hips,

The front,

The sides,

The back of your hips,

A softness flowing down moving towards the back,

The buttocks,

Front of the thighs,

Back of the thighs,

The knees,

Front of shins,

The calves,

Ankles,

Tops of feet,

Soles of feet,

The toes.

Any stress or tension oozing out from the tips of your toes,

Descending down into the earth below you.

You're aware of your body,

The right side of your body,

The left side,

The front side,

The back of your body,

The whole of your body maintaining this sense of ease,

This sense of warmth,

Of comfort,

Of home.

You feel safe in your home,

In your body,

To go to sleep.

Your mind is aware,

You're aware of your breath flowing in and out of your belly,

The rise and fall with each breath in and out.

Like the tides of the ocean advancing,

Receding,

So too your breath advances,

Expanding your belly,

Recedes,

Contracting your belly.

Begin to count your breath back,

With the flow of your breath,

Counting back from 15 to 1.

Each count back,

Your body gets heavier,

Your body's entering into that stage of deep sleep.

Your mind is completely aware of the countdown,

15 belly up,

15 belly down.

Keep counting back until you reach 1,

Resting in the smoothness of your breath when you get to 1.

Very good.

Focusing on your breath body now breathes life into a silhouette of your body,

Your astral body.

This silhouette fills up with light,

Your consciousness aware to your light body,

Your breath giving life force to your light body.

Focusing your mind,

Your awareness on this silhouette shape,

On this light body shape,

It's like silk,

Able to slip away from your physical body sleeping at rest.

This light body is so light,

It's able to float easily up to the ceiling,

Above your physical body.

Your light body is able to turn,

You see your physical body resting,

You see the surface you're upon,

You can see the images,

The walls of the room,

Any windows,

Any objects.

Your consciousness is contained within this light body,

Direct your consciousness around the room,

Seeing the different objects and images.

You can sense sounds and smells in detail,

Notice what you sense and perceive around you.

If there's a room adjacent to this room,

Travel to the next room.

If there's a door,

You can go right through the door.

If there's a wall,

Your light body travels right through the wall.

Notice where you are,

See the walls around you,

The ceiling above you.

If there are doors or windows,

Images or objects,

Furniture,

Paintings,

Whatever you notice,

Travel around the room,

Discover what you perceive.

If there's a kitchen in your space,

Go into the kitchen.

See the walls,

The appliances,

If there's an oven,

A stove,

Kitchen cabinets,

A refrigerator.

Notice what you see.

Very good.

Now float your astral body,

Your light body,

Hovering it back above your physical body.

Imagine that you're instantaneously there.

You can see your body resting peacefully.

It's time for you to enter your physical body.

Allow your astral body to float back down into the dimensions of your physical body,

Allowing yourself to settle back into the room,

Feeling the physical body.

Noticing your breath moving in and out of your body,

Feeling the movements of breath in your body,

Maybe at your ribs or your belly.

You might even notice it at your nostrils.

Become aware of your fingers and your toes.

Start to wiggle your fingers,

Wiggle your toes,

Deepening your breath,

Rolling your head from side to side and back to center,

Taking a stretch of your body if you like,

Bending your knees,

Rolling over to one side.

You can stay here for a few more moments or if you like,

Coming to a seated position.

Bring your hands over your heart space,

Taking a full breath in,

Exhaling completely,

Bowing your head down to the wisdom contained within your heart,

The wisdom contained deep within.
