Hey darling,
Let's slow down for a minute,
Find a comfortable spot,
Maybe even lie back like you would as a kid without a care in the world.
Close your eyes if that feels good to you,
And if not,
Just soften your gaze.
Let your breath settle,
Let it get easy and natural.
This is your moment to return to you,
To the little one within you.
Your inner child has been waiting,
Not for answers,
Not for perfection,
But for presence.
Now let's begin.
Soften your body,
Melt the tension from your forehead,
Soften your jaw,
And let your shoulders drop.
Relax the muscles around your eyes,
As if you were about to drift off into a sweet daydream.
There's nothing you need to fix here,
You're safe to soften,
You're safe to remember.
Now I invite you to picture yourself as a child,
Maybe 5,
Maybe 8,
Whatever age comes to mind first.
What's the look on your face?
What's around you?
Now gently walk towards this younger version of you,
Fresh,
Just ease,
You're not here to change them,
Just to sit beside them,
Hold their hand,
And listen.
Let yourself feel what they might be feeling,
Offer your presence like a soft blanket.
You might whisper,
You are safe,
You don't have to be perfect to be worthy.
I'm here,
I'm listening.
You didn't deserve the hurt,
But you do deserve healing.
Sit with them,
Heart to heart,
Soul to soul,
And when you're ready,
Speak gently.
You might say,
You didn't do anything wrong,
You are enough,
You are safe with me now.
Now take a moment to thank your inner child for showing up today,
Then just listen.
Maybe they have something to say,
Or maybe they just need to be helped.
Feel their softness,
Their longing,
Their joy.
You don't have to fix or heal everything in this moment,
Just being with them is enough.
Let them know you'll be back,
That their joy and softness are safe with you now.
And if life starts to feel heavy again,
You know where to find them.
Now place your hand on your heart,
Breathe in love,
Breathe out anything that no longer serves you.
Your inner child is not gone,
They're right here,
And they're proud of how far you've come.
Take a moment to offer them something they always needed.
Maybe a kind word,
Maybe the freedom to play,
Maybe just someone who stays.
Let them know I'll keep coming back for you.
Breathe that in.
Now gently return to your present day self,
Bring their wonder and wisdom with you.
They're still part of you,
Not left in the past,
But carried in your heart.
Place your hand into theirs,
Feel the rhythm of your breath,
And whisper softly,
Even in the not so darling places.
Keep holding their hand as you come back into the space where you started.
They walk with you,
No matter your age,
No matter the season of life you're in.
Begin to gently wiggle your fingers and toes.
Feel yourself arriving fully back into your body.
Take another deep breath in,
And carry your inner child with care today.
You're doing beautifully,
Darling.
You really are.
