This meditation is intended to be used while hiking or walking outside.
I invite you to start walking at a pace that feels right for you while being fully present in this moment.
Being present in your body,
Aware of your feet,
In your boots or your shoes,
Noticing what it feels like with each step you take,
Each time your foot contacts the earth,
Noticing what it feels like in your legs as you continue to move forward.
How do your chest and back feel?
Notice what it feels like if you're carrying anything,
In either your hands or on your back.
How are your arms and hands feeling?
Bringing your awareness to your jaw.
Are you holding any tension here?
Bringing a slight smile to your mouth.
Having a moment of gratitude for being outside right now.
Moving your awareness up to the place between your eyebrows.
Relaxing.
Releasing tension here.
And now being present in your entire body as you continue walking forward on the path.
How does it feel being present in your body today?
Witness without judgment,
Just observing.
And you can take a moment to set an intention for this hike.
Why are you hiking today?
Really connect with your why as you remain present in your body.
Begin to observe the plants and trees that are rooted in the earth.
Just notice what you're observing,
What stands out to you,
What captures your attention.
Are you always this aware of the plants and trees when you hike?
Do you feel a connection to the earth and to nature?
Now observe the sky,
The clouds,
And any birds that may be present as you continue to move forward on the path.
Does it feel different to notice what's above you while also maintaining focus on the trail ahead,
Bringing your awareness back to the plants and trees that are along your path?
Admire them for how they can withstand the sun and heat and how they're present with the sun.
Admire them for how they withstand the rain and clouds and how they're just present with it.
Notice how these plants withstand the wind They just are when the wind blows.
Soft or hard,
They remain.
And some plants and trees can even withstand the fire.
Just observe and admire how nature withstands all the seasons and elements,
How they are just always in the present moment.
They just be.
They don't try to be anything but themselves.
Each one unique in its own way.
Take a moment to admire how resilient nature is,
How it can withstand the elements and still thrive.
We are made up of the same components that nature is.
We are composed of the same energy.
We can learn from nature how to be present and resilient.
What is nature trying to convey to you today?
What are you aware of?
And what are you observing?
Continue hiking in this same state of awareness,
Being present with nature and yourself while listening to the whispers from nature and our Great Mother Earth.
