Anger is rarely the whole story.
It's the loudest part.
The part that moves fast,
Takes up space,
Feels justified.
But underneath it,
Something quieter is usually waiting.
That's what we're going to look at today.
So let's make sure we are alone.
Make sure we have some time and space.
This will be a short meditation,
But you might want a few minutes afterwards to settle.
Sit down,
Feet flat on the floor,
Hands on your thighs.
If you so choose and want to lie down,
That's okay as well.
This kind of work needs a steady base.
So we start here,
In the body.
Breathe in through your nose,
Slow.
Hold,
Long exhale through the mouth.
Again,
Breathe in,
Hold,
Breathe out.
Feel your feet,
Press them down.
Feel the ground pushing back.
That's your anchor.
Whatever comes up,
You can stay with it from here.
Think of something that made you angry recently.
Something that still has a charge on it.
Let yourself feel the anger for a moment.
Don't push it down.
Don't justify it.
Just feel it.
Where does the anger live in your body?
Now breathe into that place.
Breath in.
And on the exhale,
Go one layer deeper.
Breath out.
See,
Anger is a fast emotion.
It moves outward.
It protects.
But it almost always has something slower underneath it.
But it almost always has something slower underneath it.
Long pause.
Disappointment.
A boundary that was crossed.
A need that wasn't met.
Something that mattered.
That didn't get treated like it mattered.
Underneath the anger,
What's actually there?
Underneath the anger,
What's actually there?
Don't rush.
Let it come at its own pace.
Whatever came up,
That's the real conversation.
Not the anger.
What the anger was covering.
What would it look like to respond from that place,
Instead of from the anger?
Sit with that.
That's not weakness.
That's precision.
One last breath.
Breath in.
Breath out.
Anger isn't the enemy.
It's information.
Now you know what it's pointing to.
When you're ready,
Open your eyes.
And remember this is deep work.
If you feel called,
Reach out.
I'd be honoured to witness your being and becoming.
