Spiritual Rest focused upon Jesus. Jonathan aims to invite himself and his listeners into this rest through looking toward specific teachings of Jesus and spending time dwelling upon Him and what He taught. Jesus did not promise the removal of responsibility, but a fundamental change in how we carry it. Historically, a "yoke" was a wooden beam used to pair two oxen so they could pull a load together. By inviting us into his yoke, Jesus suggests that burnout often stems from pulling the weight of our ambitions entirely alone. Rest, in this context, is the byproduct of shared labor—it is the peace found in trusting that your identity is not tied to your output, but to your position alongside Him. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants." Matthew 11:28–29 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."
