Welcome and thank you for joining me today.
I am Martina and I will be your guide as we explore mindfulness.
In this session we will learn what mindfulness is,
Why it's important and how it can really improve our lives.
Mindfulness is more than just sitting quietly.
It's about being fully present in the moment.
It helps us break free from our usual routines where we often go through our days on autopilot without noticing what's happening around us or within us.
By practicing mindfulness we become more aware of our thoughts,
Feelings and actions as they happen.
This course is designed to help you understand the basics of mindfulness.
We will start with these fundamentals and then move on to practical exercises and meditations.
The goal is to help you experience each moment more fully and meaningfully.
We will see how mindfulness can help you slow down and enjoy your experiences rather than rushing through them.
Mindfulness allows us to observe our reactions and choices giving us the chance to respond more thoughtfully instead of reacting without thinking.
Throughout this course we will work on making mindfulness as part of your daily routine.
This isn't about adding another task to your to-do list but rather about finding easy ways to be mindful.
Wherever you are at work,
Spending time with loved ones or enjoying some alone time,
Mindfulness can help you focus better,
Think more clearly and bring a greater sense of calm and balance to your life.
So get ready to dive into practical techniques and exercises that will help you be more present,
Aware and engaged in every part of your life.
Together we will discover how mindfulness can make everyday moments more meaningful and enriching.
Starting with a hands-on mindfulness exercise,
Lemon tasting.
This exercise isn't just about tasting a lemon,
It's a chance to fully engage your senses and really experience the present moment.
By paying attention to the details,
You will step out of your usual routine and become more aware of what is happening around you.
So we often go through life on autopilot,
Hardly noticing the small things.
This exercise helps you break that routine and focus on the present moment,
Which is a key part of mindfulness.
So let's start by looking at your lemon.
So mine is here beside me.
Okay,
So notice its color.
How many shades of yellow can you see?
Feel its texture.
Is the skin smooth or rough?
Now close your eyes and hold the lemon.
Notice its coolness and the tiny bumps on its surface.
So next,
Bring the lemon to your nose and take a deep sniff.
What do you smell?
Is it sharp and citrusy?
Does it remind you of anything,
Like summer or a refreshing drink?
Take a moment to enjoy the smell.
And now take a small bite.
Focus on the taste as the juice hits your tongue.
Is it more sour than you expected?
Notice how your body reacts.
Maybe your face crunches up.
Pay attention to the sensation in your mind,
From the sharpness to the burst of flavor.
Yes,
So this exercise is about fully,
Fully,
Fully experiencing the moment and noticing every detail without judging it.
So as you go through each step,
Remember that mindfulness is about being fully present and aware of even the smallest things.
So by doing this,
You are practicing how to slow down and appreciate each moment,
Which can help you break free from automatic habits and be more aware overall.
So how did that feel?
Beyond just tasting the lemon,
This exercise is about more than that.
It's a fun way to show that mindfulness can be both enjoyable and insightful.
By paying attention to simple moments,
We can reconnect with the present and become more aware.
Aware of our everyday experiences.
So this exercise shows how mindfulness helps us pose,
Observe and fully engage with our surroundings.
It encourages us to notice details we might otherwise miss and to be more intentional in our actions.
So as you move forward,
Remember that mindfulness can be a part of everything you do,
Helping you stay grinded and present in each moment.
