
Figure 8 Breathing To Integrate Your Energy

In this meditation, we feel the breath move through us in a Figure 8. The breath integrates Earth vibrations (solid, stable, nourishing) with the vibrations of Heaven (light, wispy, inspiring) within the body. Expand, Connect, and Identify your way forward, while staying in the flow. Your nervous system will relax and reset.
Transcript
So just taking a deep breath and bringing your awareness into this body and we're just going to stay with our breath for a few moments.
Not trying too hard with the breath,
But just watching it.
And we're mostly filling our lungs and then gently starting to exhale.
Mostly emptying our lungs and watching the gentle inhale return.
And you might see it as a figure-eight,
The infinity sign.
You're inhaling and then right as you stop inhaling you turn this corner and you start the exhale process.
And you exhale all the way down to the bottom right as your lungs start to empty.
You turn the corner and start inhaling again.
And we're not holding our breath at all.
We're just watching this ebb and flow.
This figure-eight represents the yin-yang.
And as we become really,
Really yang,
Really expressive and loud and powerful,
Determined,
Focused,
Turned on,
When we get to the peak,
The only direction we can go is more yin.
A little bit more quiet and inward focused,
Soothing,
Calm,
Regenerative,
Until we get to the peak of our yin.
And the only direction to go is to start adding in more yang.
When the sun is shining high in the sky at noon,
The only direction it can go is to start coming back down towards earth.
And what we start to notice within our bodies is that there's constantly this ebb and flow.
I get really hot and we start to sweat and then we cool down and then we start to shiver and we warm up.
The ebb and flow between asleep and awake with moments of being lively and moments of being tired in between.
The ebb and flow between hunger and feeling satiated.
And the question is,
Where are we on that figure eight?
Where are we on the continuum?
And where are we supposed to be?
Feeling the vibration of the earth beneath you,
Noticing how solid the earth is beneath you.
Strong,
Supportive,
Pushing upward.
As gravity pushes you downward,
Earth is applying that equal and opposite force,
Pushing upward,
Holding you up,
Giving you structure,
Feeling that strength and support beneath you.
And noticing that our bones are a lot like earth.
Our bones are the structure within our bodies.
This physical body has a denseness to it that provides us the ability to be here in this 3D plane.
And there's this awareness that we gain our strength,
We gather our strength from the earth.
When we eat our spinach,
It tastes earthy.
It's bringing the vitamins and minerals into this body to expand our own structure,
To strengthen our structure.
When we drink water from a stream,
The stream has been flowing over the rocks,
Gathering minerals.
And you drink that into this body,
Bringing the structure and stability and strength into this form.
We bring our awareness to the top of our head and start to notice the vibrations of the energy up in the universe.
Light and wispy and free,
Expansive movement and change,
Inspiration.
And we notice that we can get all of our inspiration and change from above.
All of our movement comes from above.
Our dreams,
Our hopes,
Our excitement.
And we start to notice this figure 8 with our breath.
As we inhale,
The figure 8 goes up through the heart and then it goes up to one side of your head,
Up to the crown of your head.
And you exhale down the other side of your head through the heart.
And you might notice that your exhale goes all the way down one side of the hips to the perineum.
And then you start inhaling up from the perineum to the other hip and up through the heart.
So you're this hourglass shape.
And what you may notice is that here at your heart we are mixing the stability,
The minerals,
The vitamins,
The strength from the earth.
And mixing it with the movement and flow and inspiration from the universe.
Here at your heart is where we can create growth.
We have the building blocks to grow and the inspiration to grow.
And all of that meets at your heart.
This space at the heart is where your sense of free will comes in.
Choosing what to make.
Choosing how to use your building blocks.
Choosing your direction.
We're going to play for a moment with what it looks like when we're not at our heart with this perfectly balanced mix.
We're just going to bring our awareness down to the abdomen,
The lower part of this figure eight,
The exhale.
We're gathering from the earth.
We're identifying what we lack,
Trying to gather more of it.
We're in this space of doing the to-do list,
The activity,
Trying,
Gathering materials just in case,
Being ready.
It's a survival instinct.
We're very present in the body,
But there's not much movement or growth.
Just collecting,
Making ourselves heavier as we collect.
We bring ourselves to the upper part of this figure eight,
Up in the head,
The inhale.
There's movement and ideas.
So many ideas.
We could do this and we could do that.
I want to try new things.
I want to adventure.
There's excitement.
There's space to change our minds.
A lot of freedom.
So much inspiration.
It's this space of intentions,
Expectations,
Desires,
But it's so light that it keeps slipping away.
As you reach for something,
It just floats out of reach.
Living in this space of ideas that don't solidly fit in our lives yet.
Being with the ideas,
But not doing them.
And then we find ourself in that spot at the heart.
Here at the heart,
We're being welcome to integrate the upper and the lower circle.
Being welcome to integrate these thoughts and ideas with doing and making it happen.
Taking the motivation and welcoming motivation to hold hands with the ideas,
Making them a reality.
At the heart is a beautiful handshake between doing and being.
At the heart is a partnership.
It's a beautiful dance where your grounded energy is holding hands with your wispy movement,
Excitement,
And pulling it in.
Pulling that excitement and liveliness and energy into this physical body.
Welcoming inspiration into this form.
And as it does that,
This wispy,
Light,
Energetic hand starts to pull some of that grounded energy upward,
Bringing more movement and more flow into this physical body.
Welcoming the mixing.
Welcoming the flow.
There are a few paths around us that are unrecognized.
If you look to the right side of you,
There's a pillar of energy.
It's encapsulated.
It's this space where the earth and the universal light are mixing in this pillar beautifully in harmony.
But we are still just flowing our body,
Flowing our energy in this body,
Following the figure eight,
Unaware of that space of balance right next to us.
There might be another of these pillars behind us and to the left side and in front of us,
All over this untapped potential.
And we're putting our awareness out there on all these little pillars and all of that untapped potential.
This feeling of,
If only I could access that.
And just noticing how it feels in your body when you're putting your energy on these things that are outside of you.
We've stopped focusing on our breathing.
We've stopped creating in the moment because we're trying to get to these pillars of balance.
Welcome to come back to the figure eight through the heart.
And every once in a while,
One of those pillars just pops open.
And it's like a candy with the juices inside.
Like the piece of gum where when you start to chew it,
Suddenly there's this burst of flavor.
The juices are released.
And that's what it feels like when we stay aligned with ourselves.
And we continue to mix our energy.
And one of these capsules opens up and enriches our lives,
Bringing new information and new excitement and interest and balance.
While you're still breathing and connected at your heart.
And while we're really focused on this pillar on the right side,
A different one opens on the left side,
Enriching us in a space that we weren't even expecting.
It's an invitation to stay balanced.
Stay at your heart.
Stay connected.
And witness the beauty that opens up when the timing is right.
As this figure eight continues to move,
The figure eight is taking those new juices,
Those new enrichments,
And just mixing it into the fold.
Mixing it into you.
Without even trying,
It just happens.
And there's this visual of you standing with a pin surrounded by balloons.
And you just want to pop all the balloons at once.
If we were to open up all these capsules at the same time,
It's like chewing on the grape gum and the orange gum and the strawberry gum and the cherry gum all at the same time.
And the flavor is overwhelming.
And it's hard to focus on any one flavor.
There's no clear path forward because there's so much at once.
It's not as enriching.
It's more confusing.
So there's a message to just be patient as we flow.
And when these capsules open one at a time,
These pillars enrich us one at a time.
We can absorb and process and integrate.
We take our vibration exactly where it is,
And we raise that vibration a little bit.
And a little bit more.
Becoming coherent with the new vibration before adding more.
Finding that place of balance and coherence is the place that we can build from when we're overwhelmed,
When there's too much input.
It's hard to access this figure eight in our body,
Hard to access the earth and the universe when we're out of balance.
There's this visual of people standing on the outside of all of these pillars,
And they have pins,
And they are popping them all around you.
And the overwhelm of feeling so much at once,
So we just return to ourselves,
Return to our own grounding,
Our own dreams,
And the mix at our own hearts.
And from that space of balance,
We can process and flow and choose.
Reminding us to stay in our own alignment,
To create at the heart,
And to build from harmony as we move forward in life.
