Welcome.
Today's practice is a letting go.
A quiet,
Sacred kind of release.
We'll be working with the image and the energy of a river.
Because water doesn't push,
It flows.
It knows how to take what you no longer need and carry it far far away.
Let's begin.
Find your seat or lie down and let your body settle.
You don't have to hold anything right now.
The ground is holding you.
Take a slow,
Conscious breath in through your nose and exhale through your mouth like the wind.
Let your shoulders drop and allow your belly to soften.
Now gently close your eyes and begin to imagine a river.
This is your sacred river.
It could be wide and deep or narrow and winding.
Maybe there are trees nearby or birds in the air.
Let your body feel the rhythm of this place and let your imagination filled in.
You're standing at the edge of this river now and there's no rush.
You have all the time you need.
You begin to walk closer.
The water is slow and steady.
It is inviting.
Imagine yourself stepping into the shallows.
Feel the water around your feet.
Let it rise slowly up your ankles,
Your calves and maybe all the way to your hips.
Or you might choose to stay at the edge and that's okay too.
The river meets you wherever you are.
Take a moment and ask yourself what am I ready to let go of today?
What's been heavy on my body and heart?
You don't need a clear answer.
Just a feeling,
A sense,
A word or maybe an image.
And now offer whatever it is you want to let go of to the river.
You might picture it as a color or a smoke or as a small stone in your hands.
See yourself placing it in the water.
Watch it float or sink and then let it go.
Let the current take it.
Let it be carried away.
You don't have to carry it anymore.
Now let the river begin to move through your body.
Yes,
Through.
Imagine the water gently flowing through your hips,
Through your belly,
Through your chest,
Washing through your energy system like a quiet wave.
Is there any leftover tension?
Let it swirl away.
Any emotion that feels stuck,
Let it soften.
You might even sway a little as you breathe,
Like your body is remembering how to flow.
As you inhale,
Receive the support from the river.
And as you exhale,
Release what's too much.
Inhale,
Receiving support.
Exhale,
Letting go.
Inhale,
Receiving.
Exhale,
Letting it flow.
Now take one last moment at the river's edge.
Place a hand on your belly or your heart if it feels good and say softly,
I am allowed to let go.
I don't have to carry everything.
Flow is healing me now.
And just feel the breeze.
Hear the sound of water.
Be present in your body.
Take one last breath in and exhale like the river itself.
When you're ready,
Wiggle your toes,
Your fingers,
Stretch out your arms and return to the room slowly.
The river is always here and now so is your flow.
