Welcome to this brief practice designed to cultivate a sense of calm by focusing on the bhavana of the moon.
So when you feel ready,
Come into shavasana or your preferred relaxation posture.
Allow the weight of your body to sink into the support of the floor.
When you're ready,
Take a long,
Slow,
Deep breath in and as you let it out,
Just feel the back of your legs soften and release.
On the next breath,
Allow the back of the hips to soften and to release.
Allow your lower back to release,
Your mid-back and upper back.
Then relax the back of the neck,
The back of the shoulders and the back of the arms.
Make any adjustments you need to,
To release the body into the ground more fully.
Allow yourself to sink into the support of the floor completely and then move your awareness to your belly and feel the rise and fall of your belly as you breathe.
Notice each inhale as it enters the body,
Each exhale as it leaves.
Let your breathing be soft,
Full and easy.
No effort.
Now,
Visualize yourself sitting outside on a warm summer's night.
As you look up towards the clear sky,
You can see a full moon shining brightly,
Bathing you in its soft light.
Breathe deeply as you rest there.
Then allow the images to fade and bring your awareness back to your body,
Becoming aware of your body from the crown of your head to the tips of your toes.
And then start to bring some gentle movement to the body,
Maybe wiggle the fingers,
Wriggle the toes and move or stretch in any way that feels good.
When you feel ready,
Just rolling onto one side of the body and just resting there.
When you feel ready,
Take your time and come up into a comfortable seated position.
Open the eyes and become aware of your surroundings.
Thank you for practicing with me today.
