Hi friend.
Before you begin your day,
Take a moment to gently wake up the body you'll be living in.
Not with force,
Not with rushing.
With soft,
Slow invitations to arrive.
Let your eyes close gently.
Let your breath settle.
Feel into where you're connected to the earth.
Whether it's the bed,
A chair,
A cushion.
Feel into your body that carried you through sleep and into this new day.
Take a slow breath in through the nose.
And let it go,
Softly.
We're going to move gently.
I invite you to follow what I offer.
But if your body wants something different,
Trust that.
Let it lead.
Begin with your neck.
Let your head grow heavy.
And slowly,
Gently,
Let it drop toward your right shoulder.
Not pulling or pushing.
Just releasing and letting gravity do the work.
Feel into the stretch along the left side of your neck.
And breathe.
And now slowly let your head roll forward,
Your chin moving toward your chest.
Feeling the back of the neck soften and open.
Continue rolling over to the left shoulder.
Slow,
Without rush.
And now slowly,
Gently,
Let your head drop forward,
Chin to chest.
Moving slowly and mindfully.
If it feels good,
Continue one or two more times.
Following what your body is asking for.
Maybe pausing where there's tension.
Maybe lingering where it feels good.
Gently coming back to centre.
Take a moment to feel into your neck and your head.
And simply notice what's there.
Now let your hands gently float up in front of you.
Begin to circle the wrists.
With open hands and soft,
Relaxed fingers.
Slow,
Soft circles.
Into one direction.
Moving in a way that feels good.
Maybe the circles turn into eights.
Or into sways.
Feel the movement of your bones,
Of your skin.
Feel the joints waking.
Now reverse the circles,
Slow and easy.
And if your fingers want to open and close,
Or stretch wide and then soften into fists,
Let them.
Follow what your body is calling for.
And slowly,
Let the hands come to rest on your thighs again.
Taking a moment to feel them,
To notice.
Now the spine.
Feel yourself sitting.
The base of you,
Your roots grounded and connected to what's beneath you.
Feeling the earth and her stability.
And from this grounded base begin to side to side.
Let it be as big or as small as feels good.
Let it be soft,
Like a tree moving gently in a quiet breeze.
Or like a seaweed swaying in slow water.
Let the movement come from somewhere deep.
From your belly,
Your lower back.
Let the upper body follow.
Let the head be soft on top.
And now,
If it feels right,
Let this way become a circle.
Slow,
Intuitive circles.
Moving your spine in whatever way it wants to move.
There's no right way.
Just following the body.
Letting it wake itself up in its own rhythm.
Maybe the circles grow a little bigger.
Maybe they stay small.
Maybe they stay swayed from side to side.
Maybe changing direction.
Trust what is happening.
How slow can you move here?
How much can you feel?
And slowly let the movement get smaller,
Even softer.
Until eventually you arrive back in stillness.
Back to centre.
Notice what you feel.
Notice what's present.
Maybe you feel a little bit more awake.
A little more alive.
Or a little more grounded.
If your body feels drawn to it,
Let your arms float up.
A gentle stretch.
Reaching above your head.
Lengthening.
Taking up space.
A full breath in as you reach.
And let the arms float back down gently as you exhale.
Slow and soft.
Let your hands rest.
And let your breath settle.
However you moved today.
Whatever was present was enough.
And now,
Take a deep breath in through the nose.
And a soft,
Slow exhale.
And when you're ready,
Softly,
Slowly,
Begin to blink your eyes open.
Letting the outside world back in.
May you carry this connection to your body with you into your day.
