Hi friend.
Before anyone else gets your attention,
Before the world begins asking things of you,
Take a moment to check in with yourself.
Let your eyes gently close.
Let your body settle.
Let your breath soften.
Feel the earth beneath you.
Feel the air on your skin.
Taking a moment to just breathe and be right here,
Right now.
Take a slow breath in and let it go gently.
Another breath without rush,
Just arriving here in this quiet space with yourself.
Now,
Gently ask yourself and listen without judging the answer.
How did I sleep?
Not good or bad,
Just noticing.
Did I wake rested,
Tired,
Somewhere in between?
Is there heaviness in my body or lightness?
Let the answer be what it is.
And now,
How do I feel this morning,
Right now,
In this moment?
Not how you should feel,
Not how you want to feel.
Just how do you actually feel?
Maybe there's an emotion,
Maybe there's just sensation.
Restlessness,
Calm,
Fog,
Maybe you don't know and that's okay too.
Whatever is there,
Let it be there.
You don't have to fix it,
You don't have to understand it.
Just acknowledge it,
Like you would acknowledge a friend who told you how they were feeling.
I hear you,
I see you,
It's okay.
And now,
One more question,
Soft,
Curious.
What do I need today?
Not what you need to do,
What you need,
What would support you.
Maybe it's gentleness,
Maybe it's space,
Maybe it's rest or movement,
Or to be seen or to be left alone.
Let something rise,
It might be a word,
A feeling,
An image.
It might be quiet and subtle or strong.
Stay open and notice.
Whatever came,
Hold it gently.
This is you,
Telling you something true.
You don't have to act on it right away,
Just knowing is enough.
Just listening to yourself is enough.
And whenever you find the space and the time,
Try to give yourself what you need.
Take a slow breath in,
Honoring whatever you found.
And breathe out,
Letting yourself be exactly where you are,
Not ahead,
Not behind,
Just here.
And when you're ready,
Without rush,
Slowly,
Softly,
Let your eyes open.
You've given yourself something most people forget to give.
A moment of attention,
A moment of listening,
A moment with yourself before you give yourself to the day.
May you carry this with you,
The knowing that you can check in with yourself anytime,
That you are worth your own attention.
