So first question is what is reflexology?
Reflexology is a very specialized hand,
Foot or ear massage.
Yes,
That's right.
You get reflexology of the feet,
Reflexology of the hand and reflexology of the ear.
Reason being,
You have pressure points in your ears,
In your hands and in your feet.
The job of the reflexologist is to work these pressure points to stimulate them and send energy to the organs in your body.
Great,
We love that.
How does reflexology work exactly?
So let's start with hand reflexology.
I'm just going to use hand reflexology as an example because my hands are close by.
You would work both hands because you have a left-hand side and a right-hand side of your body.
If you put the hands together like this,
Then that would be the middle of your body.
You'd work the left side,
The right side.
You have two kidneys.
For example,
There are some organs where you only have one organ and then you would only find the on one hand.
For example,
Your spleen or your heart.
The way reflexology works is we literally caterpillar along the hand or the foot,
Sending energy up the meridians to the different parts of the body.
So the body is in actual fact self-healing by sending the energy up through either the hand or the foot or the ear.
You are actually stimulating the body to self-heal.
Okay,
Where does reflexology originate from?
The first drawings of reflexology actually come from the tombs in Egypt.
If you look at the ancient drawings of the tombs in Egypt,
You will see people working on and administering healing to feet.
What are the benefits of reflexology?
Incredibly good for relaxation,
Blood flow,
Circulation,
And then exceptionally good for minor ailments.
So for example,
If you had a bladder infection and you came and saw your reflexologist,
By the next day,
Your bladder infection would have cleared naturally.
Because it's good for relaxation,
Obviously very,
Very good for anything and everything to do with anxiety as well.
Are you a qualified reflexologist?
Yes,
I am a qualified reflexologist.
What areas of the body are targeted during a session?
Basically the whole body.
Remember I said we work the foot or the feet or the hands or the ears,
But when I work the feet,
I only work on the feet.
I don't work on the hands or the ears.
When I work on the feet,
I target the entire body.
So from the tip of the head all the way down to the feet,
That's what I target when I do a reflexology session.
Many people think it's painful.
Is that true?
Reflexology can be painful depending on who you're going to.
I personally do not believe that pain heals.
Therefore,
My reflexology sessions,
Although I use very firm pressure when administering,
Do not use pain.
So my clients do not cringe in pain when having reflexology.
And then last and final question,
Does reflexology help with any specific conditions?
Yes,
It can.
Remember we said it's incredibly good for stress and incredibly good for anxiety.
So if you suffered with irritable bowel syndrome,
For example,
IBS,
Spastic colon,
Lower back issues,
Reflexology is phenomenal for those.
What I always tell my patients is you need to do it regularly in order for it to become effective.
So once a week,
Twice a month or once a month is very important and very good for maintenance.
Okay,
That's all the time we have for you today,
But thank you so much for answering all the questions.
It's been wonderful talking to you.
Thank you so,
So much.
