Hey,
It's Kristen.
Today,
I want to talk to you about metaphor.
If you like this practice,
You're gonna love my course.
It's called Everyday Sensuality.
Alright,
So to help you jump-start your metaphors for today,
I'm just going to ask you some questions.
So,
The invite for this practice is really sort of reception.
Just allowing yourself to hear my questions and letting the answers bubble up without any judgment.
Allow this practice to be effortless and even playful.
You could come up with a metaphor that is simple or something elaborate.
It could be profound or it could be silly.
It could be playful.
The choice is yours.
Just let the metaphor unfold in your mind's eye,
Inviting your imagination to roam freely.
So,
Just like every day,
Take a moment to center yourself.
Bring your awareness to the center of your head and start breathing at a rhythm that feels comfortable to you.
If you want,
Just close your eyes and relax and begin to take some deeper,
Slower breaths and allow these breaths to connect you with your inner landscape as you just allow the answers to these questions to flow out of you.
So,
If you were the weather,
What would be your forecast for today?
How would you show up if you were a big thunderstorm?
Now,
Can you imagine yourself as a pink,
Warm sunrise?
What if your mood were a blustery wind or a light rain?
If you were the grass,
What time of day would it be?
Would you be part of the cool,
Dewy morning?
Would you be warm and fragrant under a high noon sun?
Would you be fresh and crisp like the middle of the night?
Would you be lying under a cool,
Starry sky?
Now,
Keep this playful.
Allow yourself these perceptions.
I'm going to keep asking you some more questions.
Bring your awareness to your heart.
Does it feel like a blossoming flower?
Or right now,
Is it more like a dripping flame?
And if your heart were a flower,
What flower is it right now?
And if it were to become a different flower,
Now what flower is it?
If your heart were a flame,
Where is this flame connecting in your body?
Where is the blaze going next?
Now,
Bring your awareness to your mind and just imagine it's a serene lake.
How does that affect the rest of your disposition?
You can just say to yourself,
My mind is a serene lake.
And maybe it's not.
Maybe it's something more akin to a race,
Like the Indy 500.
What's your body feel like if your mind is like a race?
Formula One,
Formula Indy.
And how does that affect the rest of your body?
So you've practiced this new perception and this new imagination.
Go ahead and invite yourself to do this playfully throughout the day.
Make a choice later on,
Instead of listing the things that are worrying you or that you have to get done.
Just take a moment to bring some metaphor in to your inner dialogue.
And keeping it playful,
Bring some metaphor into the dialogue with the people in your life.
Now,
Slowly bring yourself back into the room.
Bring your awareness back to the center of your head.
Gently bring a smile to your face and if your eyes were closed,
Blink them open.
And if they were already open,
Just pick something in the room to focus on.
And just notice the light and the shadow.
And then bring that focus out until you're fully enveloped in your space.
And that's our metaphor practice for today.
I really enjoy doing this together.
