Hey,

It's Kristen.

Today I want to talk to you about humming.

If you like this practice,

Then you're going to love my course on everyday sensuality,

Finding peace and connection through your senses.

Before we get started,

I want you to know that humming is not just a vocal exercise.

It's a powerful tool for regulating the nervous system and promoting inner harmony.

When we hum,

We activate the vagus nerve,

Which helps to calm and soothe the body's stress response.

By incorporating humming into your daily conversations,

You can create a soundscape that mirrors the richness and complexity of your emotions.

It's going to help you communicate on a deeper level.

So let's get started.

Take a moment now to find a quiet space where you can sit comfortably.

Start with closing your eyes and taking a few deep breaths to center yourself.

Now begin to hum softly.

It might take you a few seconds to really hone in on that actual sound that rolls through your throat and your system with ease.

You can go ahead and try humming at a higher note,

Humming at a lower note.

And just find that middle road that feels really good to your body.

As you're humming softly,

Allow yourself to feel the vibrations resonate throughout your body.

Notice how the sound reverberates in different areas.

Hum right now right in the back of your mouth,

Around your jaw.

Now as you're humming,

Move that from your jaw to your chest.

What does it feel like when you're humming in your chest?

Can you feel it in your throat?

Can you feel it in your face or in your head?

Just allow yourself to fully immerse in the experience of this sound that you're creating.

You're purring like a cat.

You're letting go of any tension and resistance.

I want you to get as comfortable as you can with this sound of humming,

With this nonverbal way of communicating.

Now I want you to imagine that throughout your day,

When somebody is asking you a yes or a no question,

I want you to engage deeply with your hum and give an answer without a specific word.

And if it's a yes,

I want that hum to reverberate through your whole body.

What does a yes feel like in your whole body?

And now there might be a different sound for no.

I want you to reverberate that no in your whole body.

How does the no feel when it's rolling through your body out into your energy field?

I'm inviting you into the nonverbal ways you can communicate with your body,

With your sound,

With your energy field.

So humming is your gift for today.

You can take a moment to do the humming meditation like we just did,

But you can also bring a sound,

A hum,

Into your day and conversation.

When you choose to sound out your answer yes or no,

You're actually checking in with your body.

Is this a yes for the body,

Or is it a no?

Creating a sound is going to engage your full body,

Your senses.

You're not going to just be accessing a yes or no from your mind.

Using sound brings you into your fullness with effort,

Grace,

And ease.

Now go about your day and invite yourself to incorporate humming into your conversations and into your moments with yourself.
