Have you ever wondered why,
Despite all your efforts,
Visualising,
Journalling,
Affirming,
Things still aren't falling into place the way you want?
You see other people manifest their dream lives,
Effortlessly creating abundance,
Joy and success,
Leaving you wondering how they pull it off while you're still struggling to get the simplest things to move in your favour.
You're putting in the work,
Yet something seems blocked.
You're not alone in feeling this way,
And more importantly,
Nothing about you is broken.
The reason you're not seeing the changes you desire is not because manifestation doesn't work,
It's because certain habits,
Often unconscious ones,
May be quietly getting in the way.
Today,
I want to help you identify five of these toxic habits that are subtly sabotaging your ability to manifest the life you want.
But even more importantly,
We're going to dive into solutions,
Practical steps you can take,
To undo these patterns and replace them with empowering habits that will open up the flow of your manifestation power.
Together,
We'll clear the path so you can start seeing the results you've been dreaming of.
And the best part?
You'll discover that the power wasn't somewhere out there.
It's been within you all along,
Just waiting to be unleashed.
Let's get started with the first culprit.
Negative self-talk and limiting beliefs.
You might wonder,
Why is this so common,
And why does it impact manifestation so severely?
Well,
Whether you realise it or not,
The thoughts you entertain about yourself carve deep pathways into your subconscious.
Think about it.
If you're constantly telling yourself,
I'm not worthy of abundance,
Or it's really hard for me to make things happen,
Then your mind starts to operate from that belief,
And your reality begins to match it.
What's happening here is that your beliefs are sending out a clear message to the universe.
This is what I expect.
This is the limit I believe is mine.
And as a result,
You keep receiving proof of that belief.
Napoleon Hill,
In his classic work Think and Grow Rich,
Talks about the importance of holding a definite purpose.
A clear vision that you not only desire,
But also feel deserving of.
Belief is the key to making that vision a reality.
If you're consistently feeding your mind with beliefs that you're not good enough,
Or that money is hard to come by,
You'll manifest circumstances that reinforce those beliefs.
Think of the mind architect.
He speaks extensively about what he calls mental prisons,
The set of beliefs formed in childhood that continue to limit us as adults.
Unless we become conscious of these thoughts,
We stay trapped in those outdated narratives.
But here's the liberating truth.
You can begin to reshape those mental walls.
Every negative belief,
Every bit of self-doubt can be reprogrammed.
One powerful method to start this process is cognitive reframing.
It's as simple as pausing when you notice a limiting belief and asking yourself,
Is that really true?
Can I absolutely know that this is a universal truth?
Or is it just something I've been conditioned to believe?
This practice,
Known widely through the work of Byron Katie with her method The Work,
Helps us challenge our assumptions,
Freeing us from the stories that sabotage our progress.
To take this even further,
You can start incorporating positive affirmations,
But with a twist.
Instead of just saying them mindlessly,
Anchor them in an elevated emotional state.
When you combine the words of a positive affirmation,
Something like I am worthy of abundance,
Or I easily attract what I need with a deep sensory experience of already having it,
You start rewiring your brain for that reality.
Your mind begins to believe that it is already your truth,
And before you know it,
You begin radiating that belief outward,
Drawing experiences into your life that reflect it.
Shifting self-talk takes time,
But remember,
The power lies in the small consistent choices you make every day.
Now let's talk about another toxic habit.
Chasing outcomes instead of surrendering.
This one can be tricky because the world often tells us that we need to grind,
Hustle and push through,
As if forcing an outcome is the only way to achieve it.
But in the realm of manifestation,
Chasing something too hard often creates resistance.
It's like trying to grab onto water.
It slips through your fingers faster the tighter you hold on.
When you're fixated on when and how something should happen,
You're not leaving space for the universe to deliver it in the best possible way.
I love how Eckhart Tolle in The Power of Now talks about this unrealistic addiction to future outcomes.
He explains that so much power,
Magic and manifestation potential lies in the present moment.
But when we keep our energy tied to some potential future event,
Obsessing about when it will arrive or if it will arrive at all,
We block the flow of energy that can bring things together effortlessly.
A beautiful example of the power of surrender is Michael Singer,
The best-selling author of The Untethered Soul and The Surrender Experiment.
His life teaches us that sometimes,
Stepping back and allowing things to unfold naturally without forcing the outcome can lead to extraordinary results.
From his experiments with complete surrender,
He attracted massive success,
More success in fact than he ever anticipated.
This doesn't mean staying passive.
It means aligning your intentions,
Doing your part and releasing the need to control exactly when and how the results will show up.
So how can you apply this in your life?
It starts with practicing trust.
Trust that once you've set a clear intention,
The universe is already working behind the scenes to bring things into alignment.
Trust can be cultivated through mindfulness techniques.
In fact,
Dr.
Jode uses creative visualisation paired with feelings of gratitude in advance of the manifestation.
This practice helps settle the chase and allows you to enjoy the manifestation process itself,
Transforming it into a journey full of inspiration and pleasant surprises.
The key is to shift from the mindset of,
I need this to happen right now,
To,
I'm open to this happening in the best possible way,
Even if that's different from how I imagined it.
When you start living more in flow,
Trusting the process,
Things often fall into place in ways you couldn't have predicted and faster than you would expect.
The third toxic habit that many of us unknowingly fall into is holding onto resentment and emotional baggage.
It's incredible how unresolved emotional wounds can drain all of your manifesting power.
You might think,
Well,
That fight with my friend three years ago isn't really affecting my life now.
But often these unresolved emotions create subconscious blocks.
Whether it's a grudge towards someone from your past or anger that life hasn't always been kind to you,
Holding onto these feelings keeps you energetically tied to those old experiences.
Peter Crone often speaks of how we carry the scars of emotional wounds far longer than we need to,
Sometimes binding ourselves to a reality that doesn't serve us.
And Oprah Winfrey,
Who had her own journey through significant childhood trauma,
Speaks beautifully about forgiveness,
Not as something we do for the other person,
But as something we do to release ourselves from the past.
She recognised that forgiveness was the key to unlocking her potential and manifesting the success she saw for herself.
The good news is there are powerful,
Actionable steps you can take to let go of resentment and cleanse the energy that's holding you back.
One such technique is EFT,
Emotional freedom techniques,
Also known as tapping,
Which involves lightly tapping on specific meridian points on your body while acknowledging and releasing the negative emotions.
Thousands of people,
Including high performing individuals and top athletes,
Have used this method to not just heal emotional wounds,
But also to tap into higher levels of focus and creative energy.
Another powerful practice that you might want to try is a forgiveness meditation.
One widely known is the Hawaiian Ho'oponopono practice,
Popularised by Dr Wayne Dyer.
Through it,
You repeat the phrases,
I'm sorry,
Please forgive me,
Thank you,
I love you,
Intending to clear any karma,
Negative energy or unresolved attachments to the past.
This simple yet profound energy shift allows you to let go and open yourself back up to flow and possibility.
Imagine how much lighter you would feel,
How much more empowered you'd be if you no longer carried the weight of old resentment.
Once you release those emotional anchors,
You'll notice how much clearer and more effortlessly you are able to manifest aligned experiences into your life.
Alright,
As we continue this journey of uncovering the habits that block your manifestation efforts,
Let's dive straight into the next two toxic habits.
By now you've started gaining a clearer sense of just how powerful your thoughts and emotional energy are in shaping your reality.
Now let's talk about something equally important,
The environment you're in and the kind of energy you allow around you.
One of the most subtle yet impactful toxic habits is surrounding yourself with negativity.
And when I say negativity,
I'm not just talking about your thoughts this time,
Though we've discussed those earlier.
Here we're looking at the energies,
Environments and people that fill your daily life.
Have you ever heard the saying,
You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with?
It comes from Jim Rohn and it speaks directly to how influential our surroundings are when it comes to shaping our mindset.
What's even more fascinating is that this statement isn't just motivational fluff.
Studies show that we tend to adopt the behaviors,
Beliefs and even stress levels of those closest to us.
So if you're constantly around people or environments that echo messages of scarcity,
Fear or doubt,
It becomes much harder to stay in alignment with your higher intentions of abundance and growth.
Imagine trying to swim upstream while everyone around you is floating downstream.
That's what it feels like when you're trying to manifest your desires but are in a space filled with low vibrations.
Elon Musk,
For example,
Is all too familiar with negativity.
Early in his career he faced intense skepticism about the feasibility of SpaceX and Tesla but he intentionally surrounded himself with believers,
People who said yes to the impossible.
And that's the crucial distinction here.
It's about intentionally choosing the voices that uplift you,
That challenge you in ways that propel you forward,
Not drag you back into doubt.
Now,
I understand you may not always have control over your environment.
You might live with family or work in spaces where negativity seems to be the default.
But this doesn't mean you're stuck.
One powerful out-of-the-box solution is something called an environment audit.
Take a close look at your surroundings,
The people you interact with daily and even the content you consume,
Whether it's social media,
The news or entertainment.
Everything has a frequency and the goal is to align yourself with as many high frequencies as possible.
This doesn't have to be dramatic.
It can be as simple as limiting the time you spend around people who drain you and investing more into relationships that nourish and inspire you.
And if physical proximity makes this difficult,
Supplement it by filling your mind with content from potential mentors you admire.
Surround yourself virtually with anyone whose mindset reflects the life you want to create.
Most importantly,
Protect your mental space.
If detoxing relationships seems too hard right now,
Create a mental boundary by observing negativity without absorbing it.
Practice neutrality where someone's negative comment or doubt doesn't shake your inner world.
Instead,
Let it float by like a passing cloud while you remain firmly rooted in your vision.
This next toxic habit is one that sneaks in so subtly that most people don't even recognize it as a problem.
It's over-consumption of information without action.
In today's world,
It's so easy to feel like progress is being made just by reading another book,
Watching another video or listening to another podcast.
There's so much content available that we can fill our days learning about manifestation and still not move an inch closer to actually manifesting the things we want.
And here's the problem.
When you consume but don't act,
You create the illusion of progress.
You start thinking,
I'm learning so much,
Look at all this self-development I'm doing.
But in reality,
Nothing changes unless you apply what you've learned.
Tony Robbins sums it up perfectly when he says,
Knowledge is not power,
It's potential power.
The real power is in what you do with that knowledge.
In a world where information is so readily accessible,
One of the greatest modern traps is the comfort of learning without implementation.
Think about Steve Jobs.
His vision for Apple wasn't about consuming endless research or getting stuck in analysis paralysis.
He was all about action,
Even when all the pieces weren't perfectly aligned.
In fact,
Much of Apple's success came from launching products that weren't perfect but had massive potential for real-world impact.
Jobs understood that taking action,
Even imperfect action,
Was far more valuable than endless theorising.
So how do we stop over-consuming and start acting?
Adopt an 80-20 rule for your personal growth.
Spend 20% of your time learning and 80% of your time applying what you've learned.
For example,
Instead of spending hours reading multiple books on manifestation,
Commit to implementing just one key idea from a single book.
And most importantly,
Give yourself time to practice it fully.
Choose action over accumulation.
One simple method to put this strategy into place is by using what I call the four-by-four-by-four method.
Start with just four minutes of intentional learning.
Learn something small,
Something you can digest quickly.
Then put that learning into four hours of focused,
Practical action.
Finally,
Take four minutes to reflect on what you applied and how it felt.
The reflection part helps you make small course corrections and stay attuned to your growth.
This three-step approach helps shift your subconscious belief that you need to be more prepared or more knowledgeable to actually bring your dreams to life.
You can start now just as you are.
In fact,
Waiting for perfect knowledge is another form of resistance.
Every small action taken from aligned thoughts begins to rewire your brain.
By acting,
You are becoming the person who creates your vision,
One step at a time.
If you've identified with any of these habits we've discussed so far,
That's powerful.
Awareness is the first major step in transformation.
These toxic patterns – negative self-talk,
Chasing outcomes,
Holding onto emotional baggage,
Surrounding yourself with negativity or over-consuming information – are not here to define you.
In fact,
Recognising them is what gives you the power to change them.
We all have layers of resistance,
So don't be hard on yourself if you feel like certain areas of your life have been stuck.
That's normal.
What's important is that from here forward,
You practice non-resistance.
As you begin letting go of these habits,
You naturally begin opening the space for your desires to flow in.
It's like sculpting,
A concept borrowed from Michelangelo's famous quote about sculpting the statue of David.
He didn't create David out of thin air.
Instead,
He chiselled away the marble that wasn't David.
The masterpiece was already within the stone.
He just had to remove what didn't belong.
You too are sculpting your dream life – not by adding more things to get better,
But by removing the habits that no longer serve you.
Your desires are already on their way,
But sometimes we unknowingly create walls between ourselves and those desires.
Thankfully,
Once we remove those walls,
The universe works swiftly to fill the space with what aligns with our true intentions.
So take a moment right now to reflect,
From the toxic habits we've talked about today,
Which one resonates the most with you?
Which one do you feel ready to start chiselling away at in your life?
Whether it's challenging your self-talk,
Letting go of the chase,
Releasing emotional baggage,
Creating uplifting environments or acting on what you've consumed.
Remember,
Every small action you take builds momentum,
And momentum is incredibly powerful when it comes to manifestation.
Most importantly,
Know that you are not alone in this.
These habits are common,
And everyone faces obstacles at some point on the journey.
What sets you apart,
What allows you to truly manifest,
Is the willingness to identify those obstacles and take the steps to free yourself from them.
