The Difference Between Nasal and Mouth Breathing So,

Let's talk about something most of us do without even thinking about it.

Mouth breathing.

When you breathe through your mouth,

You bypass all of those benefits previously mentioned.

Mouth breathing doesn't filter,

Humidify or warm the air.

And it can actually lead to a dry mouth,

Bad breath and even more stress on your body.

Additionally,

It doesn't trigger the same production of nitric oxide.

So,

If you are mouth breathing a lot,

You might be missing out on a whole lot of benefits.

Of course,

There is a time and place for mouth breathing.

It happens naturally,

For example,

When we are exercising hard.

But in everyday situations,

Nasal breathing is going to be your best friend.

So,

Now you might be thinking,

How can I make this a habit?

One easy way to start this is being more mindful of your breath throughout the day.

Try to notice if you are breathing through your nose or mouth.

You can also try to consciously switch to nasal breathing during activities like walking,

Working or even when you are just sitting down to relax.

You will begin to notice that the air feels fresher,

You feel more calm and you can focus better.
