Hello and welcome to this Inner Compass Reset Meditation.
So if it feels okay,
Gently close your eyes or just soften your gaze and let it fall somewhere neutral.
In this meditation there is nothing to fix,
Nothing to achieve,
Just a few gentle minutes to come back to yourself.
Take a moment to notice how you're sitting,
The weight of your body being held by the chair or the floor beneath you,
With no need to adjust anything,
Just noticing,
Observing.
And now bring your attention to your breath,
Not changing it,
Not controlling it,
Just noticing that you're breathing,
Observing the breath,
Feeling the air moving in through your nose and out again.
If your mind wanders,
And it probably will,
That's totally normal.
Each time you notice,
Simply come back to your breath and that right there is the practice to come back.
Each time we float off and we come back again,
We're gently building the ability to create space within us and building resilience in a really gentle way.
Now let's take three slow breaths together,
In through the nose and out through the mouth.
Again,
In and slowly out.
And one more time,
Breathing in and gently releasing.
Now bring your awareness into your body.
Start at the top of your head,
And slowly move your attention downward.
Noticing your forehead,
Your jaw,
Your shoulders.
Many of us carry a lot of tension here.
And if you notice tension,
Just see if on each exhale you can soften just a little.
No need to force it,
Just inviting in that space and ease.
Let your awareness travel down through your chest,
Your belly,
Your back.
All the way down your legs to your feet to the floor.
Notice the rhythm of your breath moving your body from the inside.
And now bring your attention to the centre of your being.
Just notice where the centre of your being feels,
Or would be if you knew where it was.
I say this because we all sense the centre of our being is somewhere different.
For some,
It might be your heart,
The centre of your chest,
Your heart,
Your lungs,
Your lungs,
Others feel it more towards their gut or their solar plexus.
And others just have a sense of knowing a feeling of what the centre of their being feels like.
And all of these are fine.
So don't overthink it,
Just ask yourself,
Where is the centre of my being?
And allow it to be wherever or whatever comes up for you today.
This centre of your being is what I often think of as your inner compass.
The place that registers what feels aligned and what doesn't,
Long before your rational mind catches up.
It's a place where you don't need words and you don't need clarity.
You can just notice what's present.
And now ask yourself gently and without expectations,
How do I feel right now,
Really?
As ever,
There is no judgement,
No call to fix anything.
We are just practising honest observation,
Gentle noticing.
And if the answer to how do I feel right now,
Really,
Is,
I don't know,
Well that is an answer too.
That's information and that is all we're looking for.
Now bring to mind your working life as it is right now.
The pace,
The decisions,
The responsibilities you're carrying.
And notice what happens in your body as you reflect on this.
Again,
No story,
No judgement,
No fixing.
Just observe any sensation,
Just observe what comes up.
Then ask yourself one simple question,
What do I need more of right now to cultivate more ease?
What do I need more of right now to cultivate more ease?
It might be space,
Rest,
Support,
And it might be something you can't quite name yet.
Whatever comes up is welcome.
Now take one more slow breath in,
Pause,
And let a long breath out.
Whatever you noticed,
Carry it lightly with you.
Just let it sit in the background and allow yourself to gently observe with curiosity as you move through your day.
You don't need to act on anything that came up today.
Awareness alone is powerful and noticing is the first shift.
Now when you're ready,
You can gently bring your attention back to the room.
Feel your hands,
Feel your feet.
And when it feels right,
Open your eyes or lift your gaze.
Welcome to the rest of your day.
Thank you.
