This yoga nidra is designed to help us move through life's transitions with more ease.
This meets you where you are in all our human emotions,
Resistance,
Acceptance,
Frustration,
Disappointment,
Anticipation.
Whatever you're going through,
This practice offers gentle support and guides you to soften any resistance to the changes you may be going through.
Find a comfortable resting place on your back.
Let your arms rest gently by your sides,
Hands doing whatever feels most natural.
Legs relaxed,
Feet falling open.
Take a moment to settle.
Feel the surface beneath you holding you completely.
In this space,
You are held.
You are safe.
This is your time to transition from doing to simply being.
Let your eyes soften and your eyelids close.
Focus on your breath,
Slowing the inhale,
Extending the exhale,
Being,
Breathing,
Noticing.
Now,
Feel into a sankalpa,
Your heartfelt intention for this practice,
Something you wish to achieve as a state of being.
Perhaps it's,
I move through every life transition with grace and ease.
Or,
I open my heart to life's changes and trust it will all work out.
Arrive at your intention and repeat your sankalpa silently three times.
Let the words echo softly through your whole being.
Relax into your body.
Begin by coming back to the breath,
Following it,
Letting your belly rise and fall.
Going with the flow of the breath,
Gently transitioning into relaxation and allowing.
Allow your focus to shift to different parts of your body with the rotation of consciousness,
A sense of smooth energy flow,
Recognizing a willingness to move your focus with each body part I name,
Changing slowly,
Gently,
Just your awareness shifting.
Bring awareness to the right hand thumb,
Index finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger,
And little finger.
Feel warm flowing energy moving through the palm and now the back of the hand.
Your wrist,
Forearm,
Elbow,
Upper arm,
Shoulder,
Right side of the chest,
Waist,
Hip,
Knee,
Shin,
Ankle,
Heel,
Sole of the foot,
And toes of the right foot.
The entire right side of the body is relaxed,
Alive,
And flowing with ease.
Shift now to the left side of the body.
Bring your awareness to your left hand thumb,
Index finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger,
Little finger,
Palm of the left hand,
Back of the hand,
Wrist,
Forearm,
Elbow,
Upper arm,
Shoulder,
Left side of the chest,
Waist,
Hip,
Thigh,
Knee,
Shin,
Ankle,
Heel,
Sole of the foot,
And all of your left toes.
The entire left side softens and flows.
Now the back of the body,
The heels,
Backs of the knees,
Thighs,
Glutes,
Lower back,
Middle of the back,
Upper back,
Shoulder blades,
Back of the neck,
Back of the head.
Feel energy moving smoothly through every part.
Front of the body,
Crown of the head,
Forehead,
Eyebrows,
Eyes,
Nose,
Chin,
Throat.
Chest,
Abdomen,
Pelvis.
Awareness of the whole right side of the body,
The whole left side of the body.
All of the back,
The whole of the front,
The whole body together,
The whole body together.
The whole body rests as one peaceful,
Gently flowing field of sensation,
Pure awareness of the entire body.
Bring your attention back to the natural breath,
Feel it moving in and out like a gentle current.
With each inhale,
Imagine soft golden light bridging the old chapter and the new.
With each exhale,
Anything heavy or uncertain is carried away on the current.
The breath itself knows how to move you forward with ease.
Now we meet any resistance with opposites,
Allowing both sides of the extreme to dissolve.
Begin with feeling the sensation of being stuck,
Heavy,
Slow,
Resistant.
And then gently shift to the opposite,
Flowing,
Ease,
Lightness,
Willing.
Come back to feeling resistance and then shift to allowing.
Feel them both together and then let them dissolve.
Now recall the feeling of uncertainty,
Questioning,
Worry,
And then come to understanding,
Knowing,
Certainty,
Deep trust.
Allow the feeling of fear of the unknown,
Worry of what might be.
Now let that go and recall a feeling of peace,
Assurance,
Love,
A quiet confidence.
Let both sides come and go without attachment,
Without judgment.
This practice promotes the space between them to grow wider,
Freer,
Allowing the extremes to soften,
Blur,
And simply exist the way they are.
Now we move to visualization.
For this,
Bring your awareness to the inner space in front of your closed eyes,
The screen of your mind.
In this space,
You will visualize a series of simple images.
See each one clearly and effortlessly as though projected on this inner screen.
Do not force or concentrate,
Simply allow each image to appear and fade naturally.
Now gently step into your personalized visualization.
Let each simple image form clearly and peacefully in your mind's eye.
A winding path.
A sunlit valley.
Warm breeze at night.
Vibrant wildflowers.
Rolling hills.
A mountain range.
A shifting landscape.
Crystal clear stream.
Smooth stepping stones.
A wide open meadow.
Golden sunlight.
Clear horizon.
A starlit sky.
A path leading downward.
An ocean coastline.
Peaceful waves.
Soft breeze whispering.
Effortless flow.
A winding path.
Sunlit valley.
Warm breeze at night.
Vibrant wildflowers.
Rolling hills.
A mountain range.
A shifting landscape.
A crystal clear stream.
Smooth stepping stones.
A wide open meadow.
Golden sunlight.
Clear horizon.
A starlit sky.
A path leading downward.
An ocean coastline.
Peaceful waves.
Soft breeze whispering.
Effortless flow.
Effortless flow.
Effortless flow.
And when you're ready,
Allow these images to softly fade while the feeling of graceful ease stays with you.
Silently repeat your sankalpa three times with feeling and conviction.
Begin to deepen your breath.
Extend your awareness to your surroundings.
Feel the surface beneath you again.
The air touching your skin.
The sounds in the room gently returning.
Wiggle your fingers and toes,
Inviting gentle movement back into the body.
And take a deep breath in and let it go with a soft,
Grateful sigh.
You are alive.
In this moment you are well.
You are free.
When you're ready,
Slowly open your eyes.
And carry this sense of ease and trust with you as you step back into your day with more willingness to move with life and acceptance of the changes it brings.
Namaste.
