Hello and welcome to this short meditation where we will prepare ourselves for a peaceful and restful night's sleep.
Giving ourselves a few moments before it's time to go to sleep can really be the difference between a good night's sleep and a bad night's sleep.
I know from my own personal experience when I spend just a five to ten minute window of putting myself in the right mindset,
Switching off,
Allowing my body's energy levels to change,
I not only fall asleep very quickly but I stay asleep and I have a really restful night.
And if you're anything like me,
A restful night's sleep is so crucial to your well-being throughout the day.
So in this short meditation we will cleanse our aura,
We will release the day,
We will do some deep breathing to relax ourselves and we will tell ourselves that it's time to switch off.
Now I invite you to either do this meditation sitting up or lying down.
You might like to lie down so then you'll be ready just to completely drift off and go to sleep as soon as the meditation finishes but whatever you feel more comfortable doing.
So wherever you are at allow the eyes to gently close.
Begin by taking some deep breaths,
Breathing in through the nose and releasing with a big sigh.
As you release just allow your body to become heavier,
Breathing in through the nose and releasing with a sigh.
I invite you to place your left hand over your heart space and your right hand over your belly,
Just below the belly button.
And just begin consciously breathing in through the nose and back out through the nose.
Breathing deeply,
Allowing the belly to rise and fall.
Just connecting to the breath,
Allowing ourselves to become present.
And then on the next inhalation really elongate that deep breath in.
Allow the belly to expand and as you breathe in feel the chest and the lungs beginning to expand as well.
Very gently pause that in breath and then release it in the opposite direction,
Releasing the chest,
The lungs and finally the belly.
And again let's do that again,
Breathing in,
Allowing the belly to expand,
Breathing into the rib cage,
The lungs,
The chest,
Pausing very very gently and again breathing out slowly releasing the chest,
The rib cage and finally the belly.
Once more breathing in through the belly,
Expanding up into the ribs,
Into the chest,
Pausing and releasing again,
Opposite way,
Chest,
Rib cage and belly.
Just allow yourself to do a few more rounds of that at your own pace.
Starting from the belly working up and allowing the breath to fall in the opposite direction.
And then on your next exhalation just allow the breath to return to normal,
Keeping the hands placed on the belly and the heart,
Connecting to that breath once more.
And now very gently allow the hands to either rest by your side or to fall into your lap.
Imagine a big bright white light high above you,
Visualise the light beaming down all over you.
And take your attention out into your auric field.
You might want to go just a few inches out or you might feel called to go maybe half a metre or a metre out.
Just allow your attention to naturally go out into your auric field where you feel.
You may want to expand out a little bit further or you may feel your attention needs to come in slightly.
Just play around.
Wherever you feel your attention settle,
We're now going to imagine that big bright white light flooding down into the auric field.
And as the light comes down you feel it cleansing away anything that has happened throughout the day.
This light is washing away any problems,
Any confrontations,
Anything negative that may have occurred,
Any aches,
Any pains you may be feeling internally.
This light is washing all of that away.
And as your aura becomes cleansed,
The light is now free to penetrate into your body,
Finding its way through your skin,
Deeply into the layers within.
The light is now filling you all up and you are becoming brighter and lighter.
And as this light begins to fill you up from within,
Once again the day is being cleansed from you.
The light is inviting you to let go,
To release the day,
To let it wash away.
Any stresses,
Any strains,
Any problems you may still be holding onto,
The light is letting you let go of it all.
Filling yourself up with this light.
All tensions are leaving.
The body is becoming softer.
The mind is becoming lighter.
There is less to think about.
Just keep focusing on this light,
Inviting more and more of this light in.
Breathing in light,
Breathing out stresses and strains.
Breathing in light,
Releasing the day.
Breathing in light,
Letting it all go.
Breathing in light,
No more holding on.
Breathing in light,
Feeling free.
Breathing in light,
Feeling lighter.
Breathing in light,
Feeling happier.
Breathing in light,
Feeling calmer.
Breathing in light,
Feeling ready to sleep.
Now letting it all go.
Keeping yourself deeply relaxed,
Letting everything go.
Ready for a peaceful night's sleep.
