Take a moment to settle into a comfortable position.
Whether you're sitting,
Lying down or even standing,
If that feels right for you.
If you can,
Choose a quiet space where you won't be disturbed for the next few moments.
When you're ready.
Gently close your eyes or simply soften your gaze.
Take a slow,
Deep breath into your belly through your nose.
And exhale gently through your mouth.
Again,
Breathing in.
And breathing out.
With each breath,
Allow your body to soften.
Let your shoulders drop away from your ears.
And coins your jaw.
And soften the muscles around your eyes.
There's nothing you need to do right now.
Nowhere else you need to be.
Just allow yourself to arrive exactly as you are.
Now gently bring your attention to the sounds around you.
There's nothing you need to change or figure out.
Simply listen.
You might notice the ticking of a clock.
The distant sound of traffic.
The gentle hum of electricity.
Or perhaps birdsong,
Voices,
Or the quiet rhythm of the space you're in.
Notice how each sound appears.
Stays for a moment and then fades away.
Making room for the next.
If you find yourself judging the sound.
Or wishing it were different.
That's okay.
Simply notice that too,
With kindness and curiosity.
Allow every sound to be just as it is.
And gently return to listening.
Moments by moments.
Now gently turn your attention to your thoughts.
Imagine each thought as if it were a sound drifting through the distance.
Notice it as it appears.
Allow it to be there.
And then watch as it passes on.
There's no need to push your thoughts away.
Or hold on to them.
Simply observe them.
With gentle curiosity.
Just listen.
Now take a slow deep breath in through your nose.
And exhale softly through your mouth.
As you breathe out.
Imagine releasing any assumptions.
Any expectations.
And any judgements you may be carrying.
Allow yourself to rest in this moment,
Just as it is.
Remember that each time you truly listen.
To yourself.
To another person.
Or to the world around you.
You create the possibility for greater understanding.
Connection.
And peace.
Take one final slow deep breath in.
And gently breathe out.
When you're ready.
Slowly open your eyes if they have been closed.
Carry this sense of openness.
Compassion.
And quiet presence with you.
As you move through the rest of your day.
Thank you for taking this time to simply listen.
