Explore MeditationDaniel set out as a young man in pursuit of Truth and Love. Those aims have never quite left him. They first led him to the study of philosophy, natural science, and mathematics, always emphasizing an experiential approach. Yet while those studies clarified his mental picture of the world, and himself, their ultimate groundlessness became increasingly clear to him. He was plagued by the question of how to know what a good life was, and how to consciously choose it. After discovering a highly esoteric Tantric text on a book table in Brooklyn, he first became aware of a more immediate path into those questions. He practiced mostly shamatha (concentration) and various heart-opening meditations for over a decade, before setting out to find resolution through transcendent insight. He currently finds his spiritual home mostly in the nondual traditions, though he has a deep love for all non-dogmatic approaches to wisdom and truth. Beginning in a search for Truth and Love, he finished in a search for Emptiness and Compassion. He's been regularly meditating for over 15 years, now, and through his current practice he seeks to become more gentle, lucid, and kind, with each moment.
