Welcome to Stillwater.
This is a space to soften.
This is your space to slow down.
This is your space to return to calm.
As you settle in,
Allow your body to find a comfortable resting position.
Let the surface beneath you fully support your weight.
There is nothing to hold up right now.
Nothing to solve.
Nothing to prepare for.
Stillwater is a place within you that is steady.
A place beneath your thoughts.
Beneath the noise.
Beneath the day.
Even when the surface of life feels busy and stirred,
There is a quiet depth within you that remains calm.
Tonight we return there.
Close your eyes or just gently soften your gaze.
Take a slow breath in through your nose and gently exhale through your mouth.
Again,
Inhale the calm.
You are safe in this moment.
You are allowed to rest.
You are allowed to let go.
Welcome back to Stillwater.
Bring your awareness to the top of your head.
Imagine a soft wave of warmth beginning there.
Gently melting the tension from your scalp.
Softening your forehead.
Let your eyebrows relax.
Let your ears rest heavy in their sockets.
Unclench your jaw.
Let your tongue rest at the bottom of your mouth.
Now allowing that wave to move slowly down your neck.
Releasing the muscles that carry the weight of the day.
Letting your shoulders drop.
They do not need to brace.
They do not need to carry.
Feeling that warmth move down your arms and into your elbows.
Your wrists.
Your hands.
All the way to your fingertips.
Your chest softens.
Your breathing becomes natural and unforced.
Let your heart rest.
Allowing your stomach to gently rise and fall with each breath.
No holding your knee.
No tightening.
Just rising and falling.
Let the wave move into your hips.
Relaxing your shoulders.
Releasing any stored tension.
Down your thighs.
Your knees.
Your calves.
Your ankles.
Your feet.
Your entire body is supported.
Heavy.
If any tension remains,
Imagine it dissolving like the mist at sunrise.
Now let's allow your breath to become slow and steady.
Inhale for four.
Exhale for six.
Longer exhales signal safety to your nervous system.
Again,
Inhale the calm.
And exhale the release.
With every breath your body shifts deeper into rest mode.
Your heart rate slows.
Your muscles soften further.
You are not required to be alert.
You are not required to be productive.
You are allowed to drift.
Lots of people imagine them as leaves floating on the water.
Do not chase them.
Do not analyze them.
Just simply let them pass.
Return to your breath.
Return to your still body.
Imagine yourself standing at the edge of a peaceful lake at twilight.
The water is perfectly still.
The sky is soft with freedom.
Everything is quiet.
You step closer and you see a reflection in the water.
Calm and in peace.
You sit at the water's edge.
With each breath the surface becomes even smoother.
As the water settles,
So do you.
Imagine now that that lake represents your mind.
Even if earlier there were ripples,
It is still.
There is nothing to prepare for tomorrow.
Tomorrow will take care of itself.
Tonight is for rest.
You lie back on the soft ground near the water.
You feel the cool evening air.
You feel peace.
Stars begin to appear above you.
Each star represents something you've handled.
Something you have survived.
Something you have moved through.
You did enough.
You are enough.
The stars grow softer,
Dimmer as sleep begins to gently pull you inward.
Your body is heavy.
Your thoughts are distant.
Your breathing is slow.
If you drift off here,
That is perfect.
If you remain listening,
That is perfect too.
There is no effort required.
Just floating,
Softening,
Resting.
I am safe.
I am supported.
I release today.
I trust tomorrow.
My body knows how to rest.
My mind knows how to soften.
I allow sleep to come naturally.
Drift deeper now.
Heavier.
As you rest tonight,
I want you to remember.
Still water is not something outside of you.
It is within you.
It is the steady place beneath the surface.
The calm beneath the current.
The quiet strength that carries you through.
No matter what tomorrow brings,
You can return here.
Return to your breath.
Return to your body.
Return to your inner calm.
You are learning to trust stillness.
You are learning to release control.
You are learning to rest in strength.
May your sleep be deep.
May your body restore.
May your mind soften.
And when you awake,
May you rise grounded,
Clear,
And steady.
Return to your calm.
Return to yourself.
Return to still water.
Until next time.
