In this video,
This breathing technique,
We're going to go over the Buteyko breathing technique.
Now this technique was designed by a man named Konstantin Pavlovich Buteyko,
A Russian scientist who developed the technique for athletics as well as treating asthma and other breathing disorders.
This technique is often used for people that are about to go train or even just go into high elevation,
High altitude areas.
If you live at sea level,
Then doing this breathing technique before you go into the mountains,
Either on a hike or a trek or just to go,
Is really beneficial.
Another thing that I find it very beneficial for is helping to relax,
Helping to ease that parasympathetic nervous system,
Helping to just bring the body into a relaxed state whenever you're stressed out and on the go.
And the reason why is because the Bruteco breathing technique can be used while you're walking or traveling.
And so I'll show you an example of this.
Whenever we do the Bruteco breathing technique,
We take an inhale through the nose,
Exhale all the breath out the nose.
Hold the note.
Then we walk.
So if you're already walking to work or you're walking to like a restaurant or you're just walking,
A lot of people in metropolitan areas they walk or ride bikes to work.
Can you see all the like the typical businessman or woman running to get to the office?
If this is you,
Then you can utilize this technique to help you to relax and I'll show you how.
So take a breath in through the nose.
And we'll excel.
Hand over the nose.
Sigh.
So instantly,
This is going to bring you into,
And it's going to do a little bit of an adrenaline,
Noradrenaline dump in the body.
So it's a good form of hormesis.
It's a good form of positive stress.
And it's also going to help you to relax.
It's going to kind of detach you from all of the thought and all the chatter,
All of the chaos that's going on and bring you into more stillness.
It's going to bring more awareness into the body as well,
Because it's noradrenaline,
An adrenaline dump into the body.
As well as some dopamine,
Some serotonin shooting through.
When you take that deep breath.
It's going to bring awareness to the body.
And so it's just going to get you out of your head into your body more.
And so the trick is you want to do about 15 to 20 steps with the breath held after the exhale.
And so I just did about 20 to 25.
I'm not really too sure.
But obviously,
I don't have very much room to walk in here.
But you can do this when you're walking down the street when you're doing anything.
So it's a good breath work technique to do on the go.
Okay,
One more time.
Take a breath in.
And exhale through the nose.
Hold the nose,
And then just take off walking.
15 to 25 steps in that range.
And then.
.
.
Good breath in.
Let it go.
This is if you're feeling stressed or anxious and you're on the go.
But if you're training for high elevation,
Then you're going to want to try to get up to 25,
30,
35,
40 even steps.
And the more that you do this,
The more prepared you will be,
The more VO2 max and more oxygen that you will be able to.
Access whenever you get into higher elevation.
Okay,
Thank you guys.
My name is Ben Holt and I will see you in the next video.
Take a moment to practice this wherever you are.
Maybe you're indoors and just wait till you get outdoors to practice this one,
But it's an excellent way to relax the body while you're on the go.
Namaste.
