Watching The Breath On The Stage
by Leo Maciel
In this breathing exercise, we’ll imagine the breath as a ballet dancer. We’re going to keep our “inner eye” – awareness – on some specific aspects of its choreographic moves as if it were on the stage performing a dancing show. As one of its loyal “followers”, we’ll be right there in the audience, attentive to each of its movements on the stage, paying close attention to the qualities of the breath dancing performance: The length of each movement: “Is it a short or long move?” The speed: “Is it fast or slow?” The temperature: “Is it cool or warm?” The depth: “Is it deep or shallow?” The texture: “Is it rough or soft?”The feel: “Is it controlled or free, natural or forced, smooth or rigid, tight or loose? Enjoy the show!
