Welcome to a short meditation focusing on our Muladhara or root chakra.
Find a comfortable seat,
Allowing the knees to rest comfortably in alleviating any pain in the joints or hips.
Taking a full deep inhale through the nose and sigh it out through the mouth as you let your shoulders melt away from the ears and down the back.
Taking any final fidgets or movements you need before closing down the eyes and preparing for the act of meditation.
Really allow yourself to feel into your body.
The element of our Muladhara chakra is earth.
So bringing your awareness to the base of the spine,
Feel how solid the earth is beneath you and try just for a moment to regard the earth as a body just like you.
Thousands of different components working together to form a whole.
Start a conversation with your body now and begin to learn its language and just feel.
The moment we try to understand what is happening in meditation,
We drown out the voice of our body.
So notice too just like the earth,
Your body can be tense or peaceful,
Scared or anything in between.
As you envision the earth from the mountains to rivers to flowers,
There are so many different layers of the earth just as there are so many different layers of you.
So as you draw your awareness to the base of the spine,
Let a warm red light fill your field of awareness.
This warm red light is concentrated right at the base of the spine,
The Muladhara chakra,
Our root wheel,
The foundation of our system ruled by the element of earth.
Letting this warm deep red fill your entire being,
Concentrating in this root area and allowing yourself to melt even further into the support of the earth.
From this energetic center,
From this place in our body,
We develop our sense of safety and belonging.
What is solid,
What is tangible,
The very need of our bodies to stay alive and survive.
This area governs our connection to our tribe,
Our community.
So as your awareness continues to settle in this area filled by this warm dark earthy red color,
Ask yourself if you feel connected to your tribe,
To your family,
To your community.
Do you have everything you need to survive on this earth?
Are you drinking enough water?
Eating enough food?
Are these needs balanced?
Are you consuming only what you need?
And finally the seed sound or the Bijja mantra of our Muladhara chakra is LAM.
You can repeat this mantra LAM in your mind now.
LAM.
Allowing the syllable to vibrate and activate our root chakra LAM.
And finally as we prepare to end this meditation,
Taking one or both hands and gently resting them on or near this area of your body,
The lowest part of your abdomen.
Physically connecting with this place.
As you hear the mantra LAM,
Perhaps now you'd like to say it out loud,
LAM.
And when you're ready you can slowly blink open your eyes.
