Begin your morning with presence and appreciation. In just a few minutes, with some mindful breaths, you'll shift into a mindset of gratitude and intentions for a fulfilling day ahead. Research has proven that a daily short gratitude practice can have a large positive impact on our mental wellness. How about 'feeling' it for yourself. Good morning and welcome to this gratitude practice.

You may like to lie down for this practice or you could find a comfortable seat.

The most important thing is that you are comfortable.

Wherever you choose to be just take a moment to notice the contact between you and whatever is supporting you,

Allowing your body to soften and release down towards your support.

Feel the air on your skin,

Notice if it slightly moves or there's a stillness to it.

Notice it's temperature,

Is it warm or cool.

You might notice the sounds around you,

From the furthest sounds to the closest and subtler sounds.

Taking a deep inhale through your nose and letting your exhale come out through your mouth unapologetically loud.

Let's do that a few times.

Deep inhale,

Large exhale out through the mouth.

With each inhale feel yourself filling with energy and with each exhale just releasing any tension,

Tightness or heaviness that might be within the body.

Now I wonder if you can call to mind three things you are grateful for this morning.

They can be big things or small things.

Perhaps it's your health,

It might be the thought of a loved one,

Your home,

It might be the warmth of sunlight,

The sound of the rain or it may even be the feeling of your breath moving in and out of your body.

Bring to mind a thought of gratitude and pause with each one and you may notice how these thoughts of gratitude shift the energy within you.

You may feel a spaciousness arise in your heart space,

Your shoulders may release.

You may feel that you are becoming more energised.

And from this place of gratitude how about considering how you'd like to move through your day,

Perhaps with kindness,

Maybe with focus,

Patience or maybe it's joy.

And silently repeat to yourself,

Today I choose to carry gratitude with me.

And whatever word came to mind with how you'd like to move throughout your day,

Bring that word as your intention,

So for example today I choose joy or today I choose kindness.

And repeat this sentence three times.

And taking one more deep nourishing breath in,

Exhaling fully and when you're ready gently open your eyes and I invite you to carry this sense of gratitude and intention into your day,

Letting it guide your thoughts,

Actions and interactions.
