Hello again,
Welcome back,
My name is Pratika.
This video is called,
I want to bring peace into people's lives.
There is a beautiful intention that some of us may have felt at one time or another in our lives.
Perhaps you've heard these words resonate within.
I want to bring peace into people's lives.
This sentiment shows sincerity,
It shows compassion,
And it shows a deep caring for others.
Yet quietly.
Here is an invitation to look a little more deeply.
What is being assumed in these words?
Perhaps they assume that another's life is without peace.
Perhaps they assume that I know what peace should look like for them.
Or perhaps even more subtly.
These words carry the quiet assumption that I possess something another person is waiting to receive.
Without realising it,
Peace has become my peace.
Something I have,
Something that I can give.
But can peace ever belong to anyone?
Can it be claimed?
Can that which is whole timeless and ever-present.
Become a personal endeavour.
Perhaps peace is not something to possess.
Nor something to achieve,
Nor something to bring into another person's life.
Perhaps peace is simply what remains when the movement of mind-separation of individuality and the impulse to judge.
Quietly comes to a rest.
We often hear the world speak of peace.
Nations negotiate peace.
Families seek peace.
Communities long for peace.
And these efforts matter deeply.
When violence ends,
When understanding replaces hostilities.
Something precious has taken place.
This is a negotiated peace,
A peace reached through agreement,
A peace that depends upon conditions.
The mind must continue to maintain.
To observe.
There is another piece,
Not opposed to this,
But deeper.
A peace that is present before thought divides life into differences.
And me in you,
Us in them.
Right and wrong.
Throughout history,
Many wisdom traditions have pointed towards this.
My own teacher often spoke of what he called the peace of the heart.
Not the emotional heart,
But the quiet depth of being.
Untouched by the movements of thought or outer circumstances.
Where nothing needs to be defended.
Nothing needs to be achieved.
And nothing is separate from life itself.
The peace of the heart is not a personal peace.
It is the quiet recognition that separation was never the truth of who we are.
Perhaps this is why peace is not something the mind can create.
It can only be recognised when the mind quietly ceases,
Trying to possess it.
This peace cannot be negotiated.
It cannot be defended.
It cannot be owned.
They cannot be transferred from one person to another.
It can only be self-recognised in the stillness of deep reflection.
Perhaps this is why no spiritual teacher has ever truly given peace.
No meditation has ever inspired peace inside another.
No philosophy is ever deliberate.
They have simply pointed.
Toward that which has always been present.
Quietly waiting to be directly recognised.
Then something begins to change.
The desire to bring peace in another's life softens.
Not because compassion has disappeared.
But because understanding has disappeared.
There is no longer the feeling,
I have something you need.
Instead.
There is listening.
There is a presence.
There is a quiet self-offering within intention.
Love without ownership.
Service without an identity claiming it.
One no longer tries to become a peaceful person.
Or someone who brings peace into the world.
One simply lives from the peace.
That has never belonged exclusively to any individual.
And perhaps this quiet presence without effort.
Without persuasion,
Without asking another to become anything at all.
Is the greatest gift one human being can offer another.
Not because it gives them peace,
But because it quietly invites peace.
Their self-recognition of what has been sought.
Has never been absent.
Perhaps peace has never belonged to anyone.
Perhaps it has never been lost.
And perhaps the search for peace.
Is simply the quiet falling away.
Of everything that seemed to obscure what has always been here.
Thank you.
Until we meet again.
May this quiet recognition continue to unfold.
In its own perfect way.
Blessings to you.
