Hi,
This is Ria.
Let's spend a few minutes helping your body to shift from feeling stuck or shut down and gently move into a state of a little bit more ease.
You can begin by gently holding one wrist with the opposite hand,
Like you're cradling something precious that needs holding.
Take a deep breath in and as you exhale,
Stroke your thumb slowly along the inner wrist.
This tiny pulse point remembers how to feel safe.
Again,
Breathe into this touch,
Letting it whisper to your nervous system.
You can unfurl now.
Notice where your body feels heaviest,
As if pressed by invisible weight.
Place your hand there.
It might be your collarbone,
Your belly,
Your thighs,
And let the warmth gather under your touch.
No need to fix the weight,
Just soften around it,
Like sunlight finding its way through winter branches.
Now,
Very subtly,
Very gently,
Begin to rock side to side as if a breeze is nudging you.
Let the movement be small and it can even be in slow motion,
Your spine remembering its fluidity again.
With each sway,
Imagine a frozen layer shedding until your breath begins to lead the rhythm of the rocking.
And then your body remembers.
Even stillness is a kind of motion.
Your nervous system is learning.
Thawing is not a threat.
Each time you stroke your wrist,
Each time you're rocking back and forth,
You're rewriting the old code that said I must hide to survive.
When you're ready,
Let the rocking settle,
But keep this new hum of aliveness with you.
Not a sudden leap or a forcing forward,
But a slow turn toward the light.
Gently,
Compassionately.
Like morning touching a frozen lake,
You are becoming liquid again.
Flowing,
Flexible,
Fluid.
