Transcript

Just for today,

Just for today,

I will not be angry.

Just for today,

I will not worry.

Just for today,

I will be grateful.

Just for today,

I will work diligently.

Just for today,

I'll be kind to others.

I've been a Reiki master for 24-25 years now,

And these principles are certainly something to live by,

Or at least to act as a guide.

Just for today,

I will not be angry.

These principles begin with just for today,

Because the thought of pushing such a concept all the way into the future,

That can be overwhelming,

That can be hard,

But just for today,

Just for the day,

We can be.

Similarly,

If we push it into the past,

We recognize there have been times where we've been angry,

Times where we've worried,

Not being grateful,

Not worked diligently,

Not being kind,

But by focusing on just for today,

Now,

This moment,

That's possible.

You can write and repeat these principles every morning,

Or at the start of a meditation practice.

Keep them in your wallet,

In your car,

Or in your mind as a reminder.

Just for today,

I will not be angry.

You'll notice anger arising.

You'll have opportunities for anger,

But you won't be.

You'll see it,

Witness it,

And allow it to pass.

Similarly,

Just for today,

I will not worry.

We are primed to worry.

We are primed to future focus,

To plan.

We can get stuck in that space,

But just for today,

Just for this moment,

I will not worry.

Just for today,

I'll be grateful.

The antidote to anger and worry is gratitude.

Focusing on people,

Pets,

Plants,

And places that are in our life,

That we appreciate,

That we're grateful for.

Just for today,

Just in this moment,

What are you grateful for?

Just for today,

I'll work diligently.

Work is an interesting concept.

We work for money.

We work for a goal.

We work to attain something.

We work because our work is meaningful.

We work because we're forced.

We work for a number of reasons,

And sometimes we can work non-diligently,

Work without thought,

Work without care,

But just for today,

We will do our work with full intent,

Getting the job done,

Whatever it is,

Just in this moment,

Just today.

Just for today,

I'll be kind to others,

Treating people as I would like to be treated,

Respecting all that I meet,

Not being a pushover,

Not allowing other people to take advantage,

But just general kindness,

Just for today,

Just in this moment,

Just with this person I meet,

Just with myself.

Just for today,

I will not be angry.

Just for today,

I will not worry.

Just for today,

I will be grateful.

Just for today,

I will work diligently.

Just for today,

I'll be kind to others.

Thank you for joining me.

Just for today.
