Welcome to your meditation for unhooking the mind.
This practice can be done seated or lying down.
Whatever feels the most supportive for you today.
As you settle in,
Let yourself take some expansive,
Slow,
Full body breaths.
Imagining your inhale stretching all the way up to the crown of your head and out through the soles of your feet.
And with every exhale.
Let the physical body soften and settle more deeply into where you are landing.
We spend most of our days hooked on thoughts,
Emotions,
The past,
Future,
And even technology and material items.
This is all very human to do.
And when we're perpetually hooked,
It can deeply impact our nervous system and influence the lens that we hold of life.
This is a practice of unhooking.
A practice of open awareness.
The practice of expansion.
So as you land here,
Let your awareness rest on whatever feels most alive.
That could be a physical sensation in the body or maybe a thought,
An emotion.
A sound.
Let your awareness encompass.
This aliveness.
Noticing it as fully as possible.
As you allow your awareness to stay with the thing that you are observing.
You might notice that it ebbs and flows.
If it's a sensation,
It might move slightly or shift in intensity.
If it's a sound.
Perhaps it's already passed by.
If it's a thought.
Notice if it's shifted into new thoughts.
If it's an emotion.
Notice how that moves too.
What you notice may be incredibly subtle.
Let your awareness soften enough around what you are observing to let it move.
To honor its transients.
As your awareness continues to soften around what you're observing.
Give yourself permission to unhook from needing to shift it or notice it at all.
Each time the mind gets hooked on observing something.
Let yourself label it without judgment.
If it's a thought.
Just mentally note.
Thinking.
If you notice a sensation,
Just note.
Feelings.
If you notice a sound,
Just note,
Hearing.
If an emotion arises,
Just note.
Emoting.
After you note what it is that you are observing.
Let your awareness expand back into the fullness of your experience.
Including as much of it as you can without gripping onto any single part of it.
If choosing to come back to an expansive awareness feels too difficult to do,
You can always return to observing the breath.
And let your awareness rest there.
It doesn't matter how many times you get hooked.
This is a practice.
The more that you return to the breath.
To yourself and to the present moment.
The clearer your perspective of the world becomes.
The more closely you can relate to the truth of any given moment.
And the more deeply you can hear your truest self.
As this practice ends.
Let yourself take a few more big,
Conscious,
Full-body breaths.
You can bring some small movement into the body through the fingers and toes.
The jaw.
The head and the neck.
And eventually fluttering your eyes open.
Visually returning to the space.
As you go about your day.
You can carry this practice of unhooking with you.
It's naturally going to arise,
These moments when you are absorbed by something.
It's nothing to judge.
In fact,
It needs your compassion.
You need your compassion.
Know that spacious awareness is always waiting for you to engage with.
Thank you for choosing this practice and I'll join you in the next one.
Namaste.
