Find yourself in a comfortable posture.
Whatever your body is calling for in this moment.
Bring awareness to your breath.
Notice where it resides in the body today,
Even in this moment.
Have thoughts about it,
But try not to change it.
Acknowledge that you may hear sounds near and far,
But allow yourself to simply exist in the present.
Have you ever wondered why we spend so much energy trying to avoid or change the concept of darkness within us?
There's many meditations and practices out there that focus on the good,
Focus on the light,
Acceptance,
Awareness,
Positivity,
Courage.
But we do live in a reality where there's this whole other side.
Several emotions are connected to negative connotations,
Sadness,
Grief,
Anger,
To name a few.
And then there's this concept of darkness.
On the surface,
We can understand that without darkness,
There wouldn't be light and vice versa without light,
There wouldn't be darkness.
If you've existed or lived any amount of days and years on this planet,
You have more than likely gone through situations or a season in life that was not so positive or good feeling.
I think the takeaway here is to demystify the darkness within us and around us.
Meaning we acknowledge darkness exists.
We're not going to pretend that we live in a bubble for our whole life and only experience good.
We want to be a witness to dark seasons,
Dark emotions.
And when the darkness comes,
We turn it for our good.
It could be a lesson.
It could be a moment for us to pause and recognize stillness.
Or simply to bring awareness to our internal surroundings,
Our internal body,
And possibly just create reflection questions.
So maybe in that moment,
We don't have the answer as to why darkness has come in or we're mindful of it.
But that could very well be the lesson for that given point in time.
So I encourage you to demystify your current beliefs of darkness and light demystify the soul negative that may surround the theme of darkness.
Our shadow is here to show us and teach us where our love needs to be sent in the world.
And if you encounter darkness or find it internally within you,
That could be telling you that you need to give yourself some love,
Some compassion,
That it's okay and it's definitely needed to exercise the practice of self love.
And what better way to have a revelation of that than to have that be brought on by recognizing darkness.
That your grief stands for something,
Your sadness stands for something,
And it's not something to be avoided or pretend it does not exist.
Because on the other side of that is freedom and is love.
Deepen your breaths.
Notice the sensations in the nostrils and in the belly as the air travels through.
Remember that your shadow is a guide and it's here to reveal something to you.
Allow that to exist and allow it to grow you.
Thank you so much for giving yourself this gift today,
This gift of meditation,
Of self-reflection and perhaps a new idea to take with you if it serves you.
Stay here for as long as you need and in your own time slowly open the eyes and thank yourself for giving yourself compassion and love and recognizing the darkness and the light within you.
Until next time,
Breathe easy friends.
