Thank you for joining me for this five-minute meditation in the car.
We'll start by placing the car in park and relaxing into the driver's seat.
Your back should be upright and at attention,
But not straining.
Your hands can be resting in your lap,
On your legs,
Or gently gripping the steering wheel.
With your eyes closed,
Settling into your seated posture,
Noticing how it feels to sit in the driver's seat right now.
Noticing if you feel warm or cold.
Noticing the sense of pressure as the seat supports us.
Noticing the feeling of our feet touching the floor.
Noticing and bringing awareness to any sounds or noises that we hear around us.
And just taking a moment to bask in this soundscape.
Listening to our body,
Listening to the world around us.
Allowing your body to soften and relax for just a few moments.
Knowing that this is a restorative time,
A time between places,
As you prepare to leave or arrive.
Noticing if you feel any tension or tightness in your body.
And seeing if you can soften your grip around those feelings of discomfort.
Now,
Opening your eyes,
But keeping your gaze soft and expansive.
As if you're trying to see everything in front of you,
And in your peripheral vision,
All at once.
Without focusing on any one thing.
Taking it all in,
The items in the car around you,
What you see through the window in the windshield.
And finally,
Taking a few moments to thank yourself for taking a pause,
Just a moment between activities,
To relax and settle and center yourself.
