Hello and welcome.
My name is Anissa Amat,
Your meditation guide for today's writing to heal meditation.
Writing has saved my life in the most beautiful ways.
This is a practice that has served me and continues to serve me when I am feeling inspired or heartbroken or full of joy or needing to explore the gentle or rough textures of an experience or my emotions.
Writing was my form of meditation before meditation came into my life.
I didn't begin writing with the notion or idea in my head that I was doing so to become a writer.
I began writing with a nudge from my kindergarten teacher as a way to process what I was feeling.
It was a way and has always been a way for me to step out of the chaotic landscape of my mind to process and interrogate and be curious about what my feelings are trying to tell me.
The practice of writing isn't only for people who identify as writers.
Saying that to say,
The practice of writing isn't only for people who identify as writers.
This practice is for any and everyone who is looking to deepen their connection and understanding with themselves and the world around them.
This practice allows writing and meditation to dance beautifully together.
So thank you for being here.
Thank you for choosing to be here with me,
But most importantly,
Pat yourself on the back for choosing to be here with yourself.
One final thing that I want you to remember before we begin our practice is to not bring any rules or expectations into this practice with you.
Allow this practice of writing to also be a practice of deep listening and naming what you hear within.
When you simplify it in that way,
The rules,
They disappear.
There is nothing that you are trying to prove to anyone in this practice,
Not even to yourself.
You are simply narrating what you hear within you.
You are giving it room.
You are saying what you are feeling,
Thinking,
Interpreting deeply matters.
You are expanding your awareness.
Let's begin.
Today's prompt that we will be meditating and writing to is,
Write a letter to yourself acknowledging the pain of heartbreak.
How has this experience shaped you and what strengths have emerged as a result?
Let's ground ourselves into our writing practice,
Beginning first by closing your eyes or softening your gaze,
Resting your hand on your heart,
Connecting with yourself.
Taking one big deep breath,
Inhaling and letting out a sigh,
Releasing any stories of perfection or self-criticism,
The practice of writing is about you.
This practice allows you to deepen your connection with yourself.
It allows you to deepen your understanding of yourself,
Your relationship with others and the world around you.
I invite you to take another deep breath,
Inhaling gratitude for this practice and all that it has the power to unfold and exhaling,
Releasing the breath.
One more deep breath,
Inhaling and releasing the breath with a big sigh and exhale,
Returning to the natural rhythm of breathing,
Bringing your awareness to your heart center,
The seat of your emotions,
Noticing any sensations or emotions that may arise as you connect with this space.
As you prepare to write this letter to yourself,
Allow yourself to fully embrace and honor whatever emotions are present in your heart in this moment.
Closing your eyes as we move into our writing practice,
Today's prompt,
Write a letter to yourself acknowledging the pain of heartbreak.
How has this experience shaped you?
I will set our first timer for five minutes.
Let's begin.
Allow the words to flow freely from your heart and onto the paper,
Free of judgment.
Allow yourself to access and tap into the depth of your emotions.
Allow yourself to tap into the challenges you have faced when navigating the terrains of heartbreak.
Allow yourself to acknowledge the impact but also the lessons that have bloomed.
How has this experience shaped you?
Remembering to write from a place of compassion and love for self.
Offering yourself the love,
Understanding,
And support you deserve.
I'll set our second timer for five minutes.
Continuing to breathe deeply and staying connected to the energy of your heart center.
Slowly immersing yourself in the process of writing,
Knowing that exploration is an opportunity to know yourself in a deeper way.
Two more minutes.
Letting your pins down for a moment.
Closing your eyes as we close out our practice together.
Allowing your breath to serve as waves of gratitude moving through your body.
Acknowledging what feelings came up as you wrote to the prompt today.
Maybe feelings of sadness,
Grief,
Satisfaction,
Frustration,
Anger,
Contentment.
Asking yourself how you can allow yourself time to be with these emotions.
When you write the emotions a letter of gratitude for the purpose that they serve.
One purpose being that they remind you that you're human.
They remind you of the delicacy,
Tenderness,
And beauty of your experience.
Maybe you are feeling called to continue writing to this prompt after we close out.
Maybe you are feeling that there is more that you have to say.
And if there is,
Continue to do so.
Writing in the energy of non-judgment.
Thank you for allowing me to guide you through today's practice.
May you be well.
And so it is.
