Hello my sweet listener.
Welcome to Storytime with Nana Jojo.
I'm so happy you're here.
I'm Nana Jojo and I have another wonderful story to share with you today.
But first,
Let's get cozy.
Grab your favorite stuffy and a soft blanket and snuggle in.
Now let's take some slow deep breaths together.
When we take big slow breaths,
Our bodies feel happier and more relaxed.
Take a big breath in through your nose and breathe out with a happy sigh like this.
Let's do that again.
Big breath in and breathe out.
One more time.
Big breath in and breathe out.
Super duper job.
Do you feel nice and relaxed?
Yes,
I do too.
Okay my sweet little one,
It's time for our story.
Today's story is about Luna the Little Star,
A kind and caring star who loves to help children from high up in the night sky.
Today,
Luna helps a little girl named Rosie learn something very important.
That waiting for something special can be just as magical as getting it.
It's a story about patience and about finding joy in the little moments all around us.
Are you ready?
Okay,
Let's begin.
Once upon a time,
There was a little star in the sky named Luna.
One evening,
Luna was in her spot high up in the sky,
Twinkling in her usual happy way.
She had just been playing with her friend Drizzle the Cloud,
And now she was getting ready for her favorite part of the night,
Helping children fall asleep with her soft,
Gentle glow.
As Luna looked down at the earth below,
She saw a family having a campfire in their backyard.
How fun,
She thought.
A little girl named Rosie was sitting on a blanket with her mom,
Her dad,
And her little brother Max.
Rosie was looking up at the stars in the night sky,
And she said to her mom,
Mama,
Can we see a shooting star tonight so I can make a wish?
Shooting stars are very rare,
Rosie's mom said.
We might have to wait a long time,
And it's possible that we might not even see one tonight.
Rosie was disappointed,
And she said,
But I want to make my wish now.
When will the shooting star come?
Luna watched as Rosie stared up at the sky.
Rosie's face scrunched up with concentration as she waited for a shooting star to appear.
One minute passed.
Two minutes passed.
Then five minutes.
Where is it?
It's taking forever,
Rosie said.
Luna felt sad for Rosie because she understood how hard it is to wait for something that you really want.
Luna looked around the night sky,
Hoping to spot a shooting star for Rosie,
But she didn't see any.
Luna knew that shooting stars were very special and rare.
They appear when they're ready,
Not necessarily when someone wants them to.
Then Luna had an idea.
Even though she couldn't make a shooting star appear,
Maybe she could help Rosie have some fun while she waited.
Luna began to twinkle in a special way by creating pretty patterns of twinkling lights in the sky.
Rosie immediately noticed the twinkling lights.
She pointed at them and said,
Look at those pretty twinkling lights.
They're shining just for me.
Oh,
They're beautiful,
Said Rosie's dad.
How about we count all the stars we can see while we wait for a shooting star?
We can also look for different shapes in the constellations.
Rosie said,
Okay.
I see one,
Two,
Three,
Four bright stars.
Hey,
They look like a kite.
Luna twinkled with delight.
Rosie was starting to enjoy the time while waiting.
As the minutes passed,
Rosie and her family did many things.
They counted the stars in the sky.
They told stories about the stars.
They listened to the crickets chirping.
They ate cookies and sipped hot cocoa.
After a while,
Rosie said,
Hey,
Waiting isn't as boring as I thought.
There's a lot to see and a lot to do while we're waiting for a shooting star to appear.
Rosie's mom smiled and said,
That's because you're being patient,
Rosie.
Patience means enjoying what you're doing while you wait for what's coming next.
Luna glowed with happiness as she realized that Rosie was learning how to be patient.
Up in the sky,
Luna's friend Stella drifted over and whispered to Luna.
I heard there might be some shooting stars passing through tonight,
Luna,
But not for a while yet.
Luna responded to Stella and said,
Thank you,
Stella.
Rosie's been so patient.
She's learning to enjoy waiting.
More time passed and Rosie kept finding new things to enjoy.
She noticed an owl hooting in a tree nearby.
She saw fireflies dancing in the garden.
She even helped her dad point out the Big Dipper to her little brother,
Max.
Rosie said,
You know what?
Even if we don't see a shooting star tonight,
This night has been so fun.
I really like being out here with my family looking at all the stars.
Luna's light grew even warmer because she realized that Rosie had indeed learned the lesson of patience.
And just then something magical happened.
A brilliant shooting star streaked across the sky,
Leaving a trail of shimmering light right above where Rosie and her family were sitting.
Rosie jumped to her feet and shouted,
A shooting star!
A shooting star!
I see it!
Quick,
Make your wish,
Said Rosie's mom.
Rosie closed her eyes tight and whispered her wish.
When she opened her eyes,
Her face was glowing with joy and wonder.
Rosie's dad asked,
Did you make your wish,
Rosie?
Yes,
I made my wish.
And you know what?
Waiting for it made it even more special,
Said Rosie.
If the shooting star had come right away,
I wouldn't have had this whole beautiful night with my family.
I wouldn't have seen the owl or the fireflies or the Big Dipper.
Waiting for the shooting star was part of the magic.
Luna twinkled with pride.
Rosie had discovered something very important,
That patience isn't just about waiting for what you want.
Patience is also about having fun while you're waiting.
Up in the sky,
Grandfather Orion drifted over to Luna and said,
Well done,
Luna.
You helped Rosie learn a very valuable lesson tonight.
You reminded Rosie to have fun and to notice good things all around her while she waited for a shooting star.
That's the gift of patience.
Patience helps us appreciate every moment,
Not just the moments we're waiting for.
From that night on,
Whenever Luna saw someone struggling while waiting for something,
She'd think of Rosie.
And she would remember that patience isn't just about waiting for good things to happen.
Patience is about noticing the good things that are happening right now,
All around us,
All the time.
The end.
And so my dear little listener,
What did we learn from our story today?
We learned about patience.
We learned that good things sometimes take time,
Like waiting for a seed to grow or waiting for a special day to arrive.
And we learned we can have fun while we wait.
As our story time comes to an end,
Remember that even when waiting feels hard,
You're being so patient.
Most of all,
Remember you are special in your very own way.
And always remember that Nana Jojo loves you so very much.
I'll be right here when you're ready to listen to another story,
Okay?
And if it's time for you to go to sleep now,
I'm wishing you happy and sweet dreams.
Good night and sleep tight.
I'll see you again soon.
