When our hearts are troubled and our mind is scattered,
A bit of rest,
A bit of silence can be really powerful and helpful.
I read recently this line,
Scan the world for beauty.
And while beauty is all around us,
Also there is sadness.
And this poem crossed my desk this morning,
And it's by Ayanla Vanzant.
Have you ever heard the sun come out in the morning?
Did you hear the moon come out last night?
We have been taught that power is loud,
Forceful,
Aggressive,
And somewhat intimidating.
It is not.
In silence,
The creator works.
If it feels right,
Rest a hand on your heart and one a little below your belly button.
And just tap into your nervous system.
Give it a little bit of silence that is truly powerful.
Let the beauty of the world scatter throughout your body like the stars on a really dark night,
Twinkling all throughout your body.
Let this moment of pause and rest help you re-center,
Feel grounded.
May you be able to open your eyes to the beauty around you,
The silence of nature.
May it lift your spirits so that kindness can be medicine for yourself and for others.
Thank you for sitting with me today.
