Or if you need to go to the bathroom,
Then you can go right back to bed and take a breath and easily fall asleep once again.
But as you get comfortable,
Noticing the comfort of your bed,
The covers,
The pillow,
Listening to the sounds of rain and distant thunder reminding you that you're safe,
You're sheltered,
You're comfortable,
Peaceful and easy rest,
This is your time.
And as you take a deep breath down to the tummy,
You can allow your eyes to close if you're ready to.
Just notice how your body feels,
And if there's any tension or discomfort in the body,
Imagine breathing a beautiful breath through to those areas,
Perhaps even imagining a beautiful,
Relaxing color of an energy that soothes the body,
Calms the mind,
And helps you to fall asleep better than any medication.
As you breathe gently down to the tummy,
Breathing in a comfort and an ease,
Breathing away any tensions,
Stresses,
Worries.
Just imagine all the day's stresses and worries going into a big bag on your back.
This bag is like a rucksack,
With straps on the shoulders,
Filling the weight of the thoughts of the day and tomorrow,
But it's time just to take the straps off the shoulders and set down that weight,
All the thoughts and stresses,
Set them down.
You can return to them in the morning,
Or after you have a good sleep,
Just choosing to let go of the thoughts and ideas until the time that you choose to pick that bag up again,
But when you do,
It will be free of all the stresses,
It will be free of any negative thoughts,
You'll be free.
As you set down the heavy load,
Relaxing the shoulders,
Relaxing the breath,
I want you to breathe in down to the tummy,
Open the eyes and hold the breath for a second,
And then exhale longer and close the eyes.
Breathe normally,
And then again gently breathe in a comfort and an ease all the way to the tummy,
Open the eyes,
Hold the breath,
Breathe out longer and close the eyes.
Any tensions and stresses,
Breathe them away,
And again breathing normally now.
One more time,
Gently breathe in that comfort and ease,
Open the eyes,
Hold the breath,
Gently exhale,
Breathing out longer,
Sinking deeper into your bed of comfort,
Peace,
Tranquility,
Safety.
Give yourself permission to rest now,
To put aside the day,
Allow your mind and body to drift into a place of calm and comfort,

As the eyelids are beautifully relaxed and closed,

The mouth and the jaw relaxing deeper,
Some separation between the back teeth,
Softening the forehead,
Relaxing down through the scalp and the back of the neck,
Through the shoulders,
Dissolving away any remaining tension.
Feel the comfort spread down through the chest,
Down through the arms,
The hands,
The fingers and the fingertips,
The upper back and the lower back muscles,
The chest and the tummy,
Down through your hips,
Thighs,
Knees and calves,
Every part of you beautifully relaxed,

The rain continues to fall softly,

And you feel safe and a gratitude,
The sound of the rain becomes part of your breath,
In and out,
Slow and steady,
The occasional rumble of thunder far away,
Deep and comforting,
Like the earth itself is saying,
Telling you that you are safe,
You are cared for,
And you can rest deeply now,
And as your thoughts grow softer,
Like ripples fading on a still pond,
The rain will continue for hours,
