Regular and consistent practice is the absolute foundation to success in meditation.
It is better to practice every day for 15 minutes than once a week for an hour and 45 minutes.
Creating a new habit is difficult and you may have setbacks,
But what is important is that you keep doing your practice.
Start with something easy like five or ten minutes a day and slowly increase that time each week.
Practice sitting in meditation at the same time every day to create a new habit in your mind.
Habit patterns are the foundation of your character and personality and in the process of meditation we're actually affecting positive change to the personality.
Choose one place and stick to it.
That place will soon become a trigger for your meditation and help you enter a meditative state more quickly.
Early morning and late evening are the best for most people,
But it's not essential.
It is important that you pick a time that works for you to ensure initial success.
Then decide how many times a day and for how long.
Meditation should become a habit,
But do not let it become a stale ritual.
You're engaging in the process of meditation to wake up,
Not to go onto autopilot.
Unconscious habits do not do anything to affect change in the mind.
You must decide that no matter what happens,
Life or death,
You will meditate.
Sometimes your mind will be very agitated and distracted and that's okay.
If you don't want to meditate then don't.
Just sit down and have a conversation with yourself.
Explore what is happening inside.
Regularity is the foundation of meditation practice.
