Some forms of meditation are all about the method. Others are all about the lineage. Still, others revolve around a particular teacher whose charisma holds the community together. But at their core, all forms of meditation are meant to connect us with the deepest aspects of ourselves—so that we can expand our human experience by being more fully present and living with a greater sense of peace and connectivity.

Take a nice couple of deep breaths in your own rhythm please.

Adjust your posture to be comfortable,

If you haven't already.

And come with me today on a journey to high flow.

What does high flow?

What does that phrase mean?

It could mean many different things to many different people.

But I invite you to think about it as when you might be at your best.

And I don't mean your best behavior but I mean the peak of how you're feeling in your body and your mind and your emotions.

Most people,

Not everybody,

But most people luckily have these moments of high flow.

Could be music,

Could be sports,

Could be outdoors,

In nature.

Take a moment and think about one or two moments that are naturally easy high flow for you.

Where you feel connected in your own body,

Where you're connected to the outside world or to teammates if it's sports.

Just take a moment.

Pick a moment or two of natural easy high flow that you've experienced.

I submit to you whether you realize it or not,

That somehow to enter that period of high flow you give yourself permission.

An athlete might envisage the game.

An artist might get in touch with his muse or an author.

Different people do it different ways and the more practice in it the less you notice it.

But I'm submitting to you that there's a process you go through however noticed or unnoticed or quick or slow it is that actually allows you to surrender into the slipstream of high flow.

Can't make yourself go into high flow.

Can't force it.

That's contradictory.

But it's there and you probably all have a way in which you can find it in certain areas of your life.

So just feel that now.

Feel the high flow of any one of these experiences.

Imagine your body in that moment,

Your mind and your emotions.

What are they doing?

What's happening?

Probably very much in harmony.

Just feel that alignment,

That harmony that coming together of frequencies and patterns.

And probably if you're in high flow your work or your music or your dance or your conversation or your relationship has a great impact on that positively.

Probably really helps whatever your intention is.

But I think then humans make a mistake because we tie that high flow into the circumstances around us.

Oh yeah well I can do that when I'm surfing.

I can do that when I'm singing.

Or I can do that you know when I was so-and-so but not such-and-such.

And it's understandable but we got it wrong.

We're tying the flow to these certain circumstances because we think somehow there's causal link.

But what if that's wrong?

What if the only causal function is your own intentionality?

Yes you're habituated and used to walking in the forest and feeling how the forest is and clearly that helps your flow but you've allowed something in your own being to feel that.

Somebody else will walk in a forest and feel nothing in other circumstances.

So think about whether you tie your ability,

Your natural moments of high flow to your circumstances.

Oh that only happens when I'm doing such-and-such.

Because if you're wrong about that it's really good news.

You can invoke high flow in any circumstance.

Clearly it's easier to do it in the areas that are natural for you and already work.

So build on that.

But I'm inviting you to understand,

Really understand,

What are you allowing?

How can you so easily slip into high flow in these moments in your life but not in others?

Can you admit and imagine the possibility that you can bring a significant amount of high flow to any area of your life,

Any circumstance,

Any moment,

Even if that seems unlikely or impossible?

We become a master of flow as we realize these things.

We become desires and longing to have more of that flow because when we don't have flow in our lives it's not comfortable.

It's usually not happy.

It's usually not working well.

So we can understand a natural gift and ability we're already given.

Most of us,

Most of us have already discovered and figured out and translate it to a different circumstance.

Try that now.

Think about a circumstance,

It doesn't have to be a real tough circumstance,

But just a moment or relationship or something you try to do in your life that you would like a little more flow and a little more ease because maybe it's awkward or difficult or uncomfortable and not really working for you.

Just imagine the possibility that your high flow natural skills can come into that moment.

Just feel that possibility.

And as you do imagine others doing that,

They're somewhat difficult moments because high flow happily is a resonant and been definitely infectious.

In other words,

More high flow you are in the more high flow somebody engaged with you can become what they choose.

And there can be a daisy chain effect of that.

There could be a domino effect of that.

Feel humanity,

Your family,

Your community,

Your region,

Your country starting to figure out,

Bring a little more wisdom,

The energy into high flow.

And there of course is creativity and invention and endless discovery.

And when you're ready give thanks.
